John,

I'm well aware of the e-start project. I've been following it closely.
Almost makes me wish I had a Pre-MK3 so I could install one.
I know you and Matt have spent a great deal of time and effort on this, and it shows.
Great design, and craftsmanship.

Regards

I don't think it would take much to alter the design to suit the Mark III; while you might not have as many sales, you are sure to get a good few.

Crossover shaft hole, and case-to-case bolt holes would be the only changes I can think of...

MK3 version would need to fix the position of the tranny/shift shaft in relationship to inner primary though.
In that case, how would you adjust the belt tension as need?

Proper belts don't need tensioning, as is the case with every unit Triumph belt drive that's ever been installed.

I just thought that Norton owners using drive belts would have to adjust the tranny position to have the proper belt tension.
That's how primary chain tension is adjusted on pre-MK3's, no?

I would certainly be interested. Since my Mk3's sprague gear failure I opted not to fix it, removed the starter and made 'er a kick start machine. I think I have a lot of good years left in me for starting 'er this way - she's quite easy to kick over. But one day when I'm ready to sell I don't think a potential buyer would be happy with it.

Unfortunately, this conversion kit will not fit the Mark III. Matt @ CNW and I have discussed making an upgrade kit for the Mark III, but it is not on the drawing board yet.

Okay, thanks. Well, I guess I'll hear about it in the future if you guys ever go that route.

oh I don't want to jack your thread John.. But doing very well. Back on track to Norton business for sure. Tools, plug Wires, etc. Shouldn't be long until you see something in the post.

And for the record to people who have never had the pleasure of meeting him, John is a genuinely good, caring person with integrity and I cannot thank him enough for helping me with my dad. -- cheers!

Well this thread needs to be jacked

And for everyone's knowledge, I paid dearly to have Richard say that. It cost well over $2,000 to get that statement LOL

And it was fun going to the hospital with Dave, some of his best jokes at the rally came from the bed in the emergency room. Your dad is a real trooper. And, there were lots of cute nurses too.
