I was just reading through the list of registered entrants and was pleased to see a few courageous Norton owners on the list.

A big round of applause a and "good luck on the Flats next week" to:

Salvatore Pizzano of Chula Vista, California on a '73 Commando (with a previous best of 107.716 MPH)

Tom Skemp of LaCrosse, Wisconsin on a '71 Commando

Stan Keyes of Jacksonville, Florida on a '72 750

Eric Patterson, Ascot, UK on a Norton/Manx JAPmk2 (that's what it says?)

Eric Sherrer, Left Coast Racing of Santa Paula, Calif., on a Dubbs Norton Streamliner

Go Nortons GO!! :p

I'm running my AHRMA-legal class, Historic Production (Heavyweight), but it'll be on my '69 Bonneville.

I hope to triumph at Bonneville, on my Triumph Bonneville.

I plan on taking some pictures while I am there, If you guys like I can post some of the pics here from my laptop while I am there. Live reports from the salt? I kinda planned on it anyway for my brother and his team, Chuck.

You lucky dog. I would love to see pic's and have reports. I was going to drive the motorhome out there this year, but I bought another motorcycle instead.

I've been to most every motorsports venue in the U.S. and some outside the country. Bonneville is defiantly on my bucket list.

This is a place you need to see, The first time I went was with my brother and the guys from NRHS. He was riding a 1350 Buell running on Nitro that makes over 240 HP. He had one pass of 217.945 but could not back it up because of the wind, But did set a record of 200+ I don't remember the exact speed. But I will check the british bike speeds and report back. I hope to meet Grandpaul and pkeithkelly, And also Sonny Angel and his twin engine Vincent streamliner, We leave in 20 hours from now. Can't wait to get back on the salt, To walk around and see all the bikes and the guys who build them, Oh and did I mention this is a motorcycle only event. And Jim you really should see this place, Awsome!!!!!! Ride safe, Chuck. :D :D :D :D

Chuck,

I'm super envious.

I've actually driven on the salt before, some thirty years ago. Not a meet. Just took my pickup off the road unto the salt. Happened to have a Smith & Wesson 38 with me. I did a little plinking. The salt does some amazing things to your vision.

Have a great time, Chuck. Keep the rest of us informed. I may hit the road this week, also. Dodging hurricanes, that is.

Hortons Norton -

I'm going to try to do some quasi-live reporting from the Flats too. Will be posting video to my site www.myridz.com ) and will try to post here too.

Got my hands on a top of the line helmet cam setup on Friday and will work very hard on Tuesday morning to fit it into the Vincent Streamliner.

The boys are pretty sure they will be setting a new world record (need to beat 350.88) and I sure want to get it on film - from in side the cockpit.

GrandPaul -do you know when you are taking your run?

Keith Kelly

I'm already in Albuquerque, I hope to get in line as soon as possible Weds. morning when the AHRMA runs start.

I'd like to borrow that helmet cam for my run, if it isn't too much of an inconvenience.

I'll be in a white chevy truck pulling my white 6x12 single axle box with "Born Again Bikes" and AHRMA stickers on it.

I'm the skinny guy with glasses and scruffy beard.

Should I put a carnation in my lapel?

Hey guys, Don't want you to think I forgot but the hotel we are in has a shi_ty connection and the bike my brother has been riding has needed a few tweeks and I have spent a lot of time in his pit watching them try to dial it in. It looks as if the got the timing on for the nos and now have a new gear in it and should finish that bike in the morning. I should get out and find out how all the Nortons and other Brit iron did tomorrow, I will try to send a pic today. Take care and ride safe, Chuck.

Nice pics and congrats to the members here for their success.

I also just heard about the fellow running in the streamliner class that crashed on Wednesday and died.

Well guys my time at the Salt Flats is over and I wont be able to post anything, My brother went down this morning in the timed mile while going close to 180 mph. He had to be airlifted to Salt Lake City where I am now, Some how the swingarm broke at the weld and there was no way to save it. So far I know of multiple compound fractures in his left arm and wrist and also broken fingers, I hope and pray they don't find anything else. Chuck.

The bad news from Wednesday afternoon -

Cliff Gullett, riding his return run a 500-cc class streamliner, was killed is a horrible crash.

His record from last year was 212.288. I was out near the course, at the timing tower and saw him do his first run on the course, from Mile 0 to Mile 10. I think I heard it radioed in at 220 MPH, but for the official record he needed to do a return run and have the times averaged.

On the return run, he went by me at the Mile 4 mark and had just completed another fast timed mile. He should have been throttling down when the streamliner lost control. I had turned away for a second and didn't see what happened. He was taken away unconscious.

Cliff was 47, and leaves behind a wife, a 10 yr old son and a 15 yr old daughter.

Ride safe everybody!

Chuck, bummer about your brother, I hope and pray he'll recover just fine. It was nice to meet you.

Thanks Paul, It was great to meet you also. He is still in surgery and they say it will be a few more hours, 5 so far and they still need to work on his lower arm. I pray it is because they want to do a great job. Sorry to use this forum for this guys. I guess its not the right place. Chuck.

Tim had 7 1/2 hrs of surgery on his upper and lower arm on Friday. Monday he will have his hand operated on to wire the bones in together. It looks as if the ankles are not broken and only sprained, Thank God!!!!!

That's great news!

Keep a rope around him 'till he's healed; he'll feel much better in 20 years if he lets heal completely before over-using it and causing permanent less-than-fun nagging aches & pains.

It's good to hear that Tim is on the mend. I'd love to one day experience Bonneville. Maybe next year.
