Norton's Finacial future.

Remember Scimitar cars? They were 100% plastic and fibreglass bodywork plus petrol tank and I don’t recall them warping or leaking.
Well, they don't make them anymore and fibreglass tanks wouldn't get past the vehicle safely and construction checks in force today .

classic bike guide test of the 650s says that Zongshen will supply the crankcases, cylinder head, crank and camshafts, leaving Norton to source other parts for their completed bikes to be built at Donnington. I say sensible business model. Maybe there is income from the licensing agreement on engines?

I totally agree Bernhard, my point is that Norton should not be using materials which are prone to degradation, in a very short time, from what is their intended use. There are solutions which do not require owners to shell out an additional £2500 to solve an issue which is fixable at the point of manufacture. A leaking petrol tank dropping fuel onto a hot engine or electrical cables is a disaster waiting to happen.

All these owners who have trouble with items like leaky petrol tanks should get together and start a class action of being sold a machine that is not fit for purpose, rather than waiting for someone else to solve their problem for them, that will put the ruffles upstairs at the manager's office!

There might be more owners than you think with bikes they say are 'not fit for purpose'...lol.. i bought my 961 new in 2012, after having to wait 2 yrs 10 months from ordering to finally receiving it. During that period, i called in at the factory and demanded to see the ''manager''....who told the then sales guy that HE was paid to deal with people like me then locked himself in his office ! My tank developed a leak/swelling around the fuel pump approx 3 yrs ago...when i complained, i was told to buy a new one, full stop. I asked what if it happened again?...to which i got a shrug of the shoulders... because mine is black with WHITE pinstripe, i was charged EXTRA...!

You just prove my point that this firm appears to treat their customers with contempt. There seems to be no point in being nice to them, although I would try that first, then if they are just biding for time, hit them hard every time. You should have some guarantee with a new purchase but they appear to not give a flying dogshite. I keep hearing the same stories again and again, they need a shake up in their customer relations. . . . . .

I believe this comes from the top down. It’s SGs personal ethic.

The really sad thing is, he doesn’t seem to realise the damage he’s doing to himself. A pissed off customer doesn’t come back, and neither do his friends or anyone else he speaks to... which in the Internet age, is a LOT of people ...!

The NEC was missed opportunity - do they honestly believe that the members of this forum think it was over a Risk Assessment! The members of this forum maybe mad, daft and enthusiastic from all walks in life, but we are not idiots - they seem to fail to spot this.

That's been my opinion from the start, the company runs how Garner wants it to. and being aloof, distant and downright hard to deal with is his way of business. I waited months after the given date for my 961 and only the threat of a cancelled order got it delivered (my belief anyway) Then all the pain in the arse problems I read about, although having none personally, ownership just seemed a big dissapointment to me. It felt like I was just waiting for something to go wrong.I sold my 961 and bought another Mk.3 Commando to go with my other one, finally accepted I just couldn't be bothered with a company like that who treat customers with such contempt.
Anyway I love my real Commandos :)

I didn’t know you’d sold yours Sam. Another one bites the dust !

Prior to me getting my 961 - where I had waited months and threatened cancellation, hey presto your bike is ready - I had a long chat with one of their senior staff. He informed that they had recently employed (June 2018) a number of experienced customer service staff and things would improve.....they obviously didn’t stay.

I had to take them to court for lots of problems with my domi naked.
I won my case after 6 months...
Now my bike is on eBay and all the faults are still there, and guess what, no warranty implied or given.. so whoever buys my old bike be aware it is a bad one and there will be no come back. And they still want £22000!!!!
They haven’t even fixed the issues, I cannot believe they are happy for that bike to be sold on with all the issues.

it’s also in Jem speed shop for £20k, if you zoom in you can see the rust all over the frame

We know someone ready to sue Norton. We’re trying our best to stop it and get it sorted. This person is super wealthy and is well versed with law. Please Stuart see what is going on with your brand and fix it while you have the chance. We all want Norton to succeed.

Do you honestly think he cares, what a pointless legal move. For somone who has nothing, suing seems a strange option. Until the security is settled with Metro Bank, the brand stays with the bank.

I'm afraid it was all a scam, from 2008, more will be revealed soon. Shame the Norton name has been sullied again

I rode to Wales last week. It was cold wet and slippery and did just over 120 miles. Unfortunately when I got back the Engine was ticking over normally, my Air Box was devoid of Oil, the Head Gasket hadn't blown, the electrics were fine and nothing fell off. Still rattled like a bag of spanners tho'. Happy New Year

I am likely showing my ignorance here regarding how all these listings get done but there is a note on this page that says the listing was created automatically by LinkedIn and no one affiliated with the company created it - ??

Both the address and postcode take you to the Bugatti Owners Club (via google maps) - erroneous listing on LinkedIn, not unusual.
