Today was a lucky kind of day!
If I hadn't gone down to the local barbers for a hair cut today I would not have found out about a Norton motorcycle show on T.V.
As I sat down in the chair on the wide screen T.V. on the wall in front of me was a show on Norton motorcycles! I could not believe it. The only problem was that when you are sitting in the chair you have to keep your head down so the pretty young hairdresser can cut your hair. I couldn't see a thing. All I wanted to do was sit back and watch the damn T.V! What a bummer and by the time I got home it was all over bar the last 5 minutes.
Anyway as luck would have it the show is to be repeated at 3.00 am Saturday morning! So all you Aussie members out there, set your Tivo's or T boxes (or stay up!) for 3.00 am Saturday. Station is 7mate, Motor mate, Best of British. Maybe best to check your local guide in case times are different.

Thank you Mark.
It's on 3am - 5am Saturday 14th July Sydney time. 7mate.
Cheers
Martin

Thanks for the heads up on that Mark!
The last pretty hair dresser I went to is now my wifey!

I better stop drinking bourbon then that is very early indeed , hey you guys out there from Perth how about we organise a ride some time thanks for the info Mark .

well since us americans steal all our TV shows from overseas anyway, who's gonna put this show on youtube for us to watch!?

Mark and a haircut does seem a bit like a BSA with class, but lets put the analogies aside ;-) I wont stay up till 3 am so will probably miss it. I like the idea of a u-tube link though!!

Hey there CaptK.
All class around here mate.
If you go to bed now and set the alarm for 2.50 all will be well.
Don't know how I could get it onto U tube.

Have just set TV to record.

It's on 7mate again on Fri 20th July 3pm to 4.30pm if you want to see or record.

Could one of you guys in Oz contact the TV channel and tell them how many guys around the world would like to see their show? Maybe then they'd let you post in on youtube or some other way of getting it out.

Youtube would be best, as it gets around all the TV format crap (Pal vs Secam vs NTSC).

Love to see it if you can get it out there. Keep us posted.

RennieK is correct, it is part of a ~15 y/o series, they`ve showed the Triumph & BSA shows already, funny seeing the NVT prototypes [Trident/Commando hybrid] & the BSA origins of the rotary.
Designer/stylist Bob Trigg had some interesting things to say about the development of the Bauer frame & isolastics [like cutting the rubber bushes in 1/2 to lower the vibe/frequency range] & various missed opportunities such as blowing the profitable U.S. market when BSA went bust.

These guys are selling dvd's. It's 82 minutes so it would be a chore to post on you tube. It would have to be done in sections and then there's copyright issues. For $17 lbs. it's worth the money to buy a copy, I think I paid $40.00 for my VHS tape. This link looks like pal only. Often computers will play pal format. My tape is ntsc.

Here are some on ebay UK but be careful what region they are. The world is divided into 7 regions for dvd use (actually 6 since region 7 is for airlines and other private systems). DVD's can be made "region free" so they will play anywhere. As Frank mentioned you also have to deal with television formats, pal, secam, ntsc etc. although these usually fall into the right category with the region codes. Canada, USA and Japan are region 1.

Yep, I think Rennie has it correct.
It is a Duke production from 1978. I'm sure plenty of you will have already seen it. New to me though so I found it all pretty interesting. Lot's of history right back to the beginning.
The latest development at the end of it was the Nemesis. 200mph plus V8 machine that never got off the ground. Nothing on the latest Commando rebirth.
If I could, I would post it on Youtube. Don't know how you would go about it though. I am sure it is probably available on DVD somewhere.
I think this is probably it.

Hey there Norton Dave. I take it you are in Perth. Where about's? Have you been on any of Greg McConkey's Norton rides? There is probably one coming up shortly.

Pretty sure it was later than `78, it has Cosworth, rotaries & the dreaded 'Nemesi', but pre Garner, some good action shots of F 750 J.P.N. inc a smoky shortstroke `74 sounding real mean [sadly, also a commentary with Al Crashcart wanking on...] I see it`s being repeated on Fri 20th, if anyone wants to record some of the Commando bits & postem up on youslube or whatever.

It does sound like the Norton video from the Duke Best of British series which is '98 not '78.

It would be interesting to see an older, wiser Bob Trigg! He was quite the superstar at Marston Road while I was there. I'll go looking for the VHS or DVD copies on line.
