I've read a couple of (locked) threads that are digging into the racial and political issues dominating the consciousness of US citizens (as well as the rest of the world's). I understand the desire to keep this forum exclusively relating to motorcycles. I am currently trying to reconcile why I'm unable to find any information on recognized black figures in the Norton community and am appealing to this forum in hopes of elevating the awareness of some/any.

Additionally, does anyone know if there's ever been a black rider in any classes of the Isle Of Man races?

Ronnie, threads don’t get locked because they are political. The Pub was set up precisely in order to provide a space for such discussion whilst leaving the motorcycle forums free for motorcycle discussions.

Threads get locked because of some people’s inability to have different opinions AND have a discussion / debate in a respectful, civilised manner.

It is, of course, a trait that is not unique to Access Norton !

Okay.... I'll bite..
I fail to see why the current obsession with skin colour has ANY relevance on a motorcycle forum.
Muhammed Ali was the world's greatest boxer... Jimi Hendrix was the world's most talented guitar player.. Usain Bolt is the world's fastest man...
If there are 'Persons of colour' within the Norton community do we need to push them forward to show how righteous and virtuous we are?? Because your post suggests only that...
If you find that hard to reconcile that's your problem alone...

It’s just someone’s physiognomy, not like a Japanese motorbike that you have to subject to the Two Minute Hate every day.

... Jimi Hendrix was the world's most talented guitar player..
It's my understanding that Jimi was asked how it felt to be the world's greatest guitar player, to which he replied, "I don't know, ask Phil Keaggy"

It's a good question, especially now, and one that's likely to draw out responses that illustrate the problem (you've got 2 already)

"physiognomy"... FFS

It was the company he kept.

Norton History Question

This doesn't have to be a controversial topic.

Norton is an English motorcycle, with an English history. Not a lot of black Norton riders? Not a problem.

Frank is writing his dissertation right now, I can feel it. :)

Wasn't Englebert on that tour too? Mr H was said to have been envious of his vocal prowess...
no idea. just remember the reference to the monkees in a piece about his return. and his reference to rory was on film in an interview I saw. it'll be about still if googled. i'm sure

Please explain in the context of Norton motorcycles what 'the problem' is???

The explanation is evidenced in your reply; more specifically the ignorance implicated in your foreclosure of a problem by applying selective nominalism... right here, on this "Norton motorcycles" forum
