Took my Commando Sport a trip down to Donington for it's first service last week. Left home with 182 miles on the clock.

Had a great run down some great Scottish A roads in beautiful sunshine. Stopping off for Lunch in Thornhill (Dumfries and Galloway).

Fuelled up in Kendal (Lake District) England. Keeping an eye on the bike from Sainsburys Coffee shop.

Was very lucky that Norton were hosting a bike night at the Factory that evening with a barbeque laid on.

Got a seat on the new Norton V4 SS, which was gorgeous.

Went back into Castle Donington for the evening, and stumbled over their local motorcyclists Thursday night Meet.

Norton Factory Trip

On Friday, we did the Factory Tour, which was excellent. Great story from their Fabrication Manager, a former plumber from Ireland, over how he gave up his job and moved to Donington and worked for free for a month to try and get a job at the Factory.

Unfortunately, taking photos is not allowed in the Factory :(.

But I did get to meet, and shake hands with, Stuart Garner, who was meeting with a guest in the Factory that day. :).

Staff were all excellent and we were well looked after. They seem a very enthusiastic and dedicated bunch. My bike was ready for the Tour finishing on the Friday, with all the latest upgrades and the latest fuel map for the sports pipes. I returned to Scotland having done a round trip of 649 miles (504 on the clock when I arrived at Donington for my first service). The bike ran great all the way, but the best bit was definitely on the was back up the road from Dumfries, having then carefully run the bike in and being able to try it out with a little more gusto at that point.

Riding my own Norton down to Donington and being absorbed in the culture and enthusiasm of the place for a couple of days; I don't think I have ever had a better trip. Highly recommended to one and all!!!

Thanks for a great story - a rather better bike collect experience than when I ran out of petrol in the rain a few miles down the M42!

I hope you get as much pleasure from riding and ownership as I have.

Hi Billy, sounds like a great trip. Love that Manxman video, but I can't see any of the pics?

Cheers,

cliffa.

Never saw one of those before Thank for sharing. Is that the only one in existence?

I think the Manxman was one of a limited edition of 50. I couldn't find much about it on Google, apart from the YouTube video. Maybe an other forum member knows more?

I can't see the pics either.

Might be a problem with your software? I can see the pics ok, and I assume other people are seeing them. Maybe there's something the Admins can do to repost them in a different format? There was a thread on this forum that I couldn't see the pics either.

Here's the link when I try to see where the images are hosted from: https://outlook.live.com/owa/qbilly...Mjk4WQBxRnW9UKN1juPps17azU1Vk.&animation=true

Perhaps only people who use Outlook can see them?

@Jerry Doe ?

I'm using Chrome, and I just tried MS Edge, same result. How are you sharing them?

I just copied and pasted them straight onto the thread from my email. What's your email and I'll send some direct if you like?

Hi billy,
I upload mine to Google Drive, then you can "Right click" on each and choose "get shareable link". Then in the post click on the "Media" icon in the toolbar over the post, and past the link in there.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

cliffa.
