Yes replacement I.D. plates can be had. I remember I had to mail in my old one and I recieved a new one and my old one back but cut in half, however I don't remember where I sent it. Sorry......maybe Andover Norton spares, maybe RGM could do it too.

That bike is one of the last 1971's. Probably titles in 72 because it was purchased in 72.
Is it a numbers matching bike? Check the left side crankcase just under the barrels and near the top gearbox mount for numbers.

Yes it is a number matching bike the engine and the transmission are all stamped the same I thought that it being titled a 72 was because it wasn't sold until 72 had the same thing happen on a 66 Datsun pickup that we restored for my daughters first truck wasn't sold until 67 so they titled it a 67

Is the tank metal or fiberglass? Original would have been 'glass, as I don't think they started using metal tanks until '73. If it's metal, someone may have converted it from a 'glass tank (like I did) due to ethanol-laced fuels.

BTW, looks like a very well-kept machine.

Tank is fiberglass i coated it with Casswell's I have used it on other tanks and never had a problem
