Norton adventure begins

I spent a great day with Richard riding the "beach run" and having lunch in a quaint village here on Long Island, NY. Ending the day at an open air bar on the beach watching hundreds of twenty somethings playing beach volleyball and listening to a live band. Nova Scotia, East Coast and off to L.A. is a pretty damned ballsy ride. Especially since he's from England. Such great company. Cheers, Richard. I wish you a fantastic and safe journey. Keep us posted. I'll post some photos when I get the chance.

Just checking in,it was great to meet Curtis another 961 ear in "downstate" Long Island, that's 5 of the two wheeled icon,s I've seen now in 3 week,s. Please try follow me on twitter@nortontrip66 ,that's where my pics are atm as I not ofay with this tech stuff of loading pics,I don't do Facebook cause I'm still on a scrapbook, over the next 11 days I'll be roughly in the east New York State area/east Pennsylvania/Indiana/Illinois getting to Chicago on around 21st June,so if any other 961 er,s out there think they can put up with me for few hours (contour/Richard7/britfan60)have just recovered I ope, then let me know, could of definitely polished of a pint or 6 last evening on ocean parkway Long Island, but it would of been too much of an eventual ride back to motel marina Babylon, however we did have some thought provoking banter wiv some steely weather beaten dipsomaniac,s .
So moving swiftly on,putting jokes to one side ,u show me your,s & I'll show ur mine, nuff said hope to hear from some of u soon , cheers Richard

Haha. We did kind of run into a "weathered, sun beaten, almost typical clam digging, rock and rolling, probably pickled liver, raised to hate Englishman of Irish decent but ok with Richard because he's riding cross country"
local chap. Sigh.....my fault. I talk to strangers. It was a party atmosphere and he invited himself to sit with us. Guess your going to have to get used to all types here in the US, Richard.

Currently in "Bath village " NY, had a chat with local policemen , which led to a drink & light bite with the guys from " American legion",great bunch of guys ,and a ride out Sunday morning to the finger lakes ,light lunch & rode past Seneca race track, such a friendly town I'm sticking around for the week

That's some nice local support your receiving from the American Legion. Beautiful area up there near the finger lakes. Thought you were heading directly west.

Hi Britfan ,well as I mentioned I not got a map or sat nav,& it took some long time to get off Long Island & next thing I knew I was heading north a bit to far,so I swung a left & stuck to highway 6 ,bit of interstate & 330 miles later that Friday evening ended up at endicott, sat morning storms brewing & sought shelter in bath & felt comfatable enough to stay till Saturday ,I checked out the Curtis museum in hammondsport ,glen Curtis from early 1900,s is responsible apparently for the twist grip throttle on motorbikes & load more inventions to, check out pic "Curtis commando " meets Norton commando & one of Seneca lake

,sadly time to leave bath,NY,had a warm welcome & goodbye, also had the privilege of spending a few days at the VA medical centre ,attempting to assist & volunteer towards making their guests there more comfortable,a home for super hero,s for sure that deserve dignity & respect ,I pushed a 94yr old Omaha veteran out thru the gardens , great just to breathe the same air with someone like that .
