My dad finally got his bike, 2013 Dual SEAT SE #107 of 200 Friday Dec 13th 2013.
(Only 20 SE bikes in Canada and only 2 of them are Dual Seat - Both Dual Seats are in Southern Ontario Canada I'll let the other owner post his 10# if he wants to)

Yesterday, Sunday February 23rd 2014 we both had the first ride ever and second time hearing it run. Have to wait until 1000KM First Service to change the pipes. So this means, we actually heard only the engine as I do not think a note comes out of that exhaust.

It wasn't a long first ride at +3°C but it was sunny and the roads got the salt and debris washed away by rain for the two days prior so it was perfect conditions as far as FEB goes. I sat Pillion and as a Single rider. Amazing ride. What a bike. If you can afford one and consider yourself patient, they are a well made machine. I'll continue to update this post as the rides continue.

There is a trip planned on THIS bike from Niagara Falls to Dallas Texas the first two weeks of May 2014. So this should be a good test of the bike if any.

Here's a few photos from DEC 15 2013

Re: CANADA, ONTARIO SE 107

Congratulations on your purchase. I have the Dual Seat as well. I’m located in El Paso, Texas where the weather is 80 degrees. Today I just hit 680 miles on the bike. I’m pushing toward the 800 mile mark for the break in. I hope to put another 150 miles on it this weekend. Have fun with your bike. You have made a great choice.

Re: CANADA, ONT. Commando 961 SE #107/200

Here are a few shots from the NORTON CANADA LAUNCH September 19th 2013 at the British Consul General's (Jonathan Dart) home in Toronto Canada. Stuart Garner flew in for the event. It was a very exciting time and being a small event we all had a chance to speak to Stuart and learn a lot about these bikes and the best way to ride them and take care of them.

So far an amazing bike. 1,200 miles as of May 4th 2014.

Here is a pic of it leaving Niagara Falls Canada going to Texas. Like the new pipes? (loud -- in a fantastic way)

Please thank your dad for stopping by our rallye with his new Norton. This was last week at Somerville Texas (Lake Somerville, Overlook park) 30th annual BMOA rallye (British Motorcycle Owners Association) Houston Texas. He was very nice and talked to everyone about the new Norton, and everyone did ask him about it. The bike looked great in person, better than the pictures. It sounds real good too with the more open exhaust even though not a traditional 360 Norton sound. It was too bad he had to leave before the actual rallye got going (main days are Saturday and Sunday), but all the people that were there early got a real treat.

Left Niagara Falls at 1,161 miles
Reached Destination in TEXAS reading 2,929 miles
Total Trip one way including Dragons Tail excitement = 1,768 miles

as of MAY 21 2014

DAY 2 RETURN - HOME by ONE-07, on Flickr

Bike was amazing, trouble free! Wore a 2" flat on the back tire from driving straight for too many miles.

love the bike and snow pictures!

your tire picture made me think of the pic I took of my rear after I'd done three 20min track sessions on our club night track ride. Brilliant fun passing guys on jap multi's and Italian twins in the bends :) but losing out on the straights lol.

my rear worn to it's edges and missing it's steel chainguard.

I was up at 6am the following morning riding it 170 miles to Donington for it's 1st year service

Changing the oils, new plugs, clean air filter, and of course swapping over to clip-ons.

Still can't make up my mind about these dammed things... some days I think I think I need to sell my earthly possessions to buy one... others, I think I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole !!

So, for me and others like me, please do keep us posted as to how you get on with it as you accrue some decent mileage.

5k miles. I'd say he's already racked up some decent mileage. Way to go, Rich 7. Seeing your pics makes me even more eager for Saturday when I get mine. Can't wait to hear those optional pipes too.

Clip-on conversion done. Better pics to follow. I was lucky enough to take this bike out last night. WOW -- hard to give it back to my dad. I've been asked a few times about oil consumption from teh trip. NOT A DROP OF OIL WAS BURNT. He followed the BREAK IN PROCEDURE TO A TEE!! Even only went out an hour at a time so the bike could fully cool before bringing back up to operation temp. Well worth the effort it took to get thru that period.

Gotta thank you for sharing your experiences and photos from your trip.
What a fantastic journey. It made me start thinking of doing another trip as well.

Nearly 4000 miles round trip. No problems with the 961. Excellent!

You have done more than anyone else to pretty much destroy the hysteria, rumors, and urban legends surround the new Nortons.
Well done.

Also, your Flickr gallery proves that a Norton in Black and Gold is real Bitchin' . (for anyone old enough to know what that means)

Bravo!

When I got mine I figured with such an old style engine I best break it in by the book, so I too followed the Norton break in procedure to a tee. 2 miles on the clock when delivered and 504 miles when Norton collected for service, all done in 50/80/100 mile country rides, the bike was never sitting in traffic. Mine uses a little oil ... around 450 miles ago the level was half full now it shows a quarter on the min/max gauge.
I mentioned the oil consumption to Norton when I was at the factory for a service and they told me face to face it was normal.

I originally ordered mine in Black/gold but within weeks changed my mind to the Silver Manx/black air box, all the colours are good but like the engines... some are better than others
