next hurdle...installing the alternator and wires

I am now trying to install the alternator and shove the wires down the small chute and into what feels like a labyrinth including the sprocket. The wires do not want to exit anywhere. Is there a special trick to doing this? Is there anyway to make sure the gb sprocket doesn't chew it up?

Pass a single pull wire thru the pathway, then tape it to the alternator wires, then pull all back.
