You might be able to look up your bikes serial number here. Yours was built about 2 months after mine.

Good to know, but how does one get the oil through the grease zerk?
I used to have a small grease gun full of 140wt
Place a bit of cloth over the nipple and pump
Or take the swing arm pin retaining bolt out and pump oil in
Or drill the bolt ,fit a quill and rubber pipe from a master cylinder full of 140 under the seat
As some have done including myself

Damn, your good. A few of those I was aware of including the oil valve which I plan on removing. Also has a reed valve under seat so not sure on location and whether to keep. Bike was built 11/73. Any recommendations on oil line replacements to remove valve? Thinking transmission cooler line? Any thoughts on cylinder fin repair? Thanks.

I put my Reed valve under the seat. It is supposed to be as close to the engine case as possible, but mine works well. I pulled it recently to check for water and oil emulsion and it was fine, after 1500 winter miles. So, check occasionally, but no need to change the location.

The fireflake blue is beautiful. Oil pressure gage. Well done.
O.P., are you knowledgeable about carburetor operation, maintenance & repair? I read your fuel injection comment.
If it MAY sit idle for a month or more, use Sta-Bil.
New to anything carb on a bike. Was gonna run ethanol free
I'm Annandale, VA - my phone number is at the bottom of every page of my website - call if you need help.

Greg...
Thanks so much Greg, Im sure I will have lots of questions as I get into this. Everyone has been so helpful here compared to other bike forums I belong too.

That's where I installed mine.

Perhaps you can make the Norton rally in the Catskills come July. There is a member that wants to get a picture of all of the Fireflake Blue commandos in attendance. I'm planning on attending.

Amal Concentrics are much maligned and you will find many varying opinions on the forum regarding them. But when they work right, they are a joy to behold.

I found this article very helpful when setting mine up:

As an aside - my bike still has it's original carbs - they have had the slides sleeved, but they still work absolutely perfectly. Regular replacement of the needle jets is a much over looked routine maintenance item. Your bike will let you know when they are due for replacement.

Hope this helps.

Dan,
I take the zerk out and with the bike on the side stand I pump 140W into the hole.It is a slow process but works for me.Hopefully your rubber seals are still good as mine will leak after filling. I would be Leary to take out the long bolt that holds the dust caps on as it threads into the cap on the primary side and is a real bitch to put back in situ.

'74 has expandable "freeze plug" type end caps, no through bolt.
