Script on the cover is an unacceptable error.
Should be horizontal.
My thinking was along those lines so they’re going back to have them straightened. I’ve also decided to have the pinstripes put on the conventional way.

How’s progress Dave?

Got a verdict on the Roadster riding position yet?
Sorry for the slow response, work has been a bit hectic…

Ok so here goes, yes I’ve been out on the bike and I’ll start with the riding position; it was worth all the effort, I’m happy sitting at the front of the seat so the footpeg/seat position is much much better for me, no more having my legs pushed apart by the wind and two up isn’t an issue. The saddle is more comfortable for both of us too which is a bonus I didn’t expect. The bike is waiting for the panels to come back after straightening the logos so not being used at the moment.

on to the handling after the wheel replacement. I’m not going to bother talking about grip as I’ve not ridden the bike in the wet yet and you’d and there was nothing wrong with the dry grip with the TT100s. So here goes:

Stability - No change the bike was stable before and is still stable now, I have quite wide bars so any stability issues would be exaggerated. Stability was sorted a good while ago by having the rear rim relaced so it was in line with the front and fitting a Dave Taylor head stead.

While Lining - The TT100s white lined quite badly the Roadriders do not so a definite improvement.

Turn In - Again I thought the TT100s turned quite well but contrary to what has been said the Roadriders are an improvement taking less effort to turn the bike.

Cornering Stability - The Roadriders are better they seen to hold the line better then the TT110s did.

Braking - Again there was nothing wrong with the TT100s so, in the dry, I would say no noticeable difference.

Overall - There is a definite improvement to the overall handling not a giant leap forward but an improvement in feel is how I would describe it. There’s certainly no detriment to having the 18" rear wheel, it there was then I’d have been back to a 19" in a shot. However, as I changed the wheels at the same time I changed the riding position (Interstate to Roadster) I’m really not sure if the improvement is due the the riding position being 4" further forward or the wheels and tyres? I could pop the Interstate tank back on to find our but I’m happy with the improvement wherever it came from and the riding position is much better as a Roadster So I won’t be bothering. I’m happy with the end results Which is all that really matters.

Nigel, thanks for the seat, it’s a quality piece of kit and started me on the Roadster route. The wheels were done as they needed a refurb and while the tank and panels were at the painters it seemed like a good time to have them done. I’m a few bob poorer but it’s been worth every penny.

Here we go again…

Nice!

Looks a lot better with the stripes in the right place IMHO.

I take it that’s where you usually park the BMW ??

I’m not much of a football fan but a pal and I were in Switzerland close to the border of Germany on 2014 World Cup final night when Germany were playing Argentina so we decided to nip over the border, find a bar and watch the match. It was one of the best nights I’ve ever had in a bar, a small bar in a village I forget the name of, but we were made very welcome and the flag was a gift from that night.

Back to the bike, I agree and having the logos at the wrong angle gave me the opportunity to have a change of heart with regard to the pinstripes so all is good.

Why not just sit 4" back on the Roadster seat and compare. I can't remember feeling any change other than extra comfort going from Interstate to Roadster, range anxiety then moved me to the Interpol tank which is between the Roadster and Interstate in seat position plus an extra gallon or more of petrol.

Good point I’ll try that tomorrow. I really should have thought of that myself :)

I’ve just been out for a couple of hundred miles on the Commando and the changes I’ve made have really made a big improvement to both handling and comfort. I couldn’t be happier and it was worth every penny. I’m a very happy chap.
