Hi
Wanted to ask "How many of you have Rickman Commandos"
I want to try & clean up my Rickman Commando for my son to ride in overseas parades/races etc, where his Honda would not be welcome.
It s in pretty much get it out on track with what we have in the way of odds & sods. The motor was built 8 years ago & is just an 850 4S cam 4 speed. It went really well at Silverstone 4 years ago with 30mm mk1 carbs. It now has 34mm mk2s.
I have an alloy tank & a race seat in silver. I am short of the AP racing (triangular resovoir) it went back to the donor bike. It has been raced infrequently by my friend Graham & I have offered it to my friend Alan Foster who may be able to offer a Rickman 41mm front end.

New Project Rickman Commando

I will update you with progress
all the best Chris

Do you mean "how many of you have seen Rickman Commandos?"

Nice looking bike! Us folks out in the boonies never got to see too much of these less common machines. More photos would be nice to see so I'll be following this thread. Love that big megaphone! and... are those passenger pegs?

I'd go with the have seen part. Other than this only one in a British bike mag. This is not to say I would not love to own one.

Rickman

Hi
The bike was built in 66 with a Daytona twin engine. Don Rickman remembered his brother welding the frame. It was in a state when I got it.
Twin disc front end from a Suzuki GT750. A Kettle as we called them.
I believe this was a popular conversion ie a cheap way to get a good front end. The frame had been cut in half on the lower frame loop to fit a BSA 650 Spitfire lump. It was so badly done you could see daylight through the fried egg splatter of the welding. I sent the frame to MRD & they plated the tubes & welded in the Commando mounts & supplied the engine plates.
The tubes that look like they are pillion footpeg mounts originally carried the silencers. I used up bits & bobs to get it running but think it is about time I did it up & gave it a bit more use.
