Hello Everyone,
I just got a 1973 750. The bike does not idle and requires use of the choke partially on to run properly. I am wondering where I can get rebuild 932's with the chrome clad copper slides. Also what is a mute and how do I know if the peashooters on my machine has one. Any help would be sorely appreciated. I have a lot to learn about English bikes.

Hi,

What country are you in? I'm in CA so I'd go here to buy stuff like that, but there may be somewhere closer to you. Post a picture of your muffler and folks will tell you what you have, on the early ones I had if you could stick a broomstick in it was not muted, but what do I know?

I live on the Oregon Coast. I heard a good idea about getting a pair of rebuilt carbs so that I would always have a set to use on the bike.

Lund is right here in the NW. They were in Oregon but moved to Washington.

Thanks everyone for the information. Thank you particularly Dave for the Lund recomendation.

If you can get over to Corvallis to the OVM show there should be some great bikes there.

I just restored an 850 mk2a
I found the carbs so worn on the bore of the body and also on the slides. This is a common problem on big british stuff.
The vibration, use of poor quality similar metals for the body and slides, and also the suction created by a big twin, effectively trying to suck the slide into the cylinder, especially on idle, all play a part.
I had a poor experience trying to refurb a pair of monoblocks on my Triton. I had The bores opened up and brass slides fitted, which were a good fit, but the bike has never idled reliably, no matter what I have done to it.
I purchased a brand new set of 932 carbs fron RGM motors, with a K& N filter kit, and the bike was idling beutifully in 5 mins of startup. The bike has performed great since.
I now intend on buying a pair of chrome plated brass slides to go with them, as the use of dissimilar metals greatly extends life. I also intend on buying a pair for my Triton.
Fancy a set of rebuilt handed monoblocks, anyone?
Stuart.

Don't forget, monoblocs were a better performance carb than concentrics......Paul Dunstall always used them. They're almost smoothbore!

question for bigstu, when you had the monoblocs done ,what was actually done and was the idle problem due to richness
