It makes me wonder what the plan might be. If it is simply competition and selling the brand, that could be good. If it is about provoking other manufacturers to build production racers as well as their usual road bikes, and compete in selling them to sports minded enthusiasts, I wonder if it would be viable. I suggest that the big picture is important, and it is something I cannot get my head around. I wonder if there will still be road racing in 50 years time, and what is the best way forward ?

Blathering Dunderheads . NOW , if theyd built a One Litre V-8 :D

All they need is to ask Allan Millyard to build them one ?

The 1500cc V8 had a lot of Kawasaki parentage in it.
If they'd a got Allan to build it, it probably would have run, and been on sale.

Superbikes ARE the current breed of 'production racers' ?
And an Aprilia V4 engine is included in this stuff.
And all manner of factory parts available to make it 'just like the factory ones.'
Don't know if you'd want to with Ducs these days, although the SBK version is way better than the MotoGP ones...

I'm thinking we just need another off the shelf blower to fit to our old steeds to really upset the elites in real world romping stomping. Only takes half a bar to get double the cc capacity torque burn w/o damaging rpms that Nortons are so allergic too. I wish new Norton luck on carrying the famous name on tank around real good. But can't get the bait and switch sense out of my mind. Rear tire might last 2000 miles if being careful.

I love ducatis but who needs the bills ? awhile back we had plenty of choice in bikes for racing purposes - now ?

Last time I looked, there was Superbike, Supersport, Superstock, as International level classes. Just to begin with.
I think that gives you a choice of nearly 30 bikes of various makes and models to choose from.

When was the last time such a wide choice was available - the 1920s ??

Someone reported they bought a new H*nda out of the showroom, and went superstock racing.
A whole season, with just oil and filter changes.
Out of the showroom....

I think that with Moto 3 there is hope. However in Australia our controlling body has effectively stymied the use of MX motors for road racing. So it will all be off- the-shelf, no constructors. There will never be motorcycle manufacturing in Australia, only imports. I believe our current mindset is wrong, our kids will never know the joy of building their own bike and having success with it. That makes me really sad, there will soon be no more guys like you and I who have the basic skills.I believe we should be careful whom we empower and watch some of these bastards who write the rules - authoritarianism stifles creativity. Some of what we have been is worth fighting for.
