NEW NORTON ATLAS MOTORCYCLE
Straight off the press is this image, launching at this years NEC Motorcycle show in November !

I imagine then that Norton is saying the scrambler model will be the first 650 out the door?
Not really a fan of the scrambler segment of the market.
However, at least it shows the factory is actually moving along on the 650 introduction.

I could be tempted, especially if close to 100bhp. I would want to see some reviews first, so guess that takes us well into 2019

This may be what I need for my long trips . Those tires have to go though.

That's what MCN reported late last year .

They did a ‘poll’ at the NEC show last year, so I presume the Scrambler won the poll.

If the Norton Scrambler is built in the UK with a majority of UK sourced parts including the Ricardo developed engine and my little legs can touch the ground when sat on it then, yes please.

Should be at least 70HP . I think the Scramblers get the low HP version ? It would be great if they can get 100 HP and some mid range torque please.

Yamaha already make a low priced fun twin the FZ-07 689cc dohc , 75HP , 50 FT lbs torque , 58 MPG . So we know the tech is there for this . But can Norton make good on the rest of it ? 75 is not 100 , but 75 hp on such a light bike works good especially if off road. Hard to beat the Japanese at this.

Also the dumb front fender ! If that thing goes off road you need a fender that stops some of the fling off the tire .

Good point, for me, I wouldn't sell up my second bike to get one unless it was UK made. Triumph have done very well by having a lot of production overseas, but i hope Norton don't

the trick is to balance the hp with a broad flat tor0que curve.
easy to get high hp, but with a narrow, peaking tor0F

Anyone seen a real one yet on a factory visit, or are the finishing off the order book on the V4's. Perhaps Norton could comment, will you put it on some sort of rolling road to prove the reliability of the new engine?

I would imagine anything to do with the bike is well tucked away, the engine is the same one that’s being licensed to China for their own bikes, front row seats at the NEC this year for the unveiling, few teaser videos likely to be released in October maybe .

Shame they dont stick them on some sort of rolling road and put 50K on them, that would give people confidence. The car manufacturers do that sort of thing dont they. I shall be going to the NEC in November and for sure will be tempted, but might wait till 2020
