New Norton 961 Exhaust from SBN

Hello All , I Just wanted to post this picture from the NOC England site. I have never seen the New SBN Norton system until now. The upswept angle takes some getting used to . I like it though and combined with the Motad Norton decat X-pipe could be a great combination. The chain clearance issue seems to have necessitated the severe upswept angle . I like it !

Tony,

Wow, that exhaust is quite a bit different than my vintage (2013) SBN model.
Very cool, and rakish looking.
The different angle of the crossover pipe, and silencer seems to have resolved the chain clearance problem.
SBN was telling me back in early 2014 that my chain/silencer problem was due to me running a loose chain.
This new design seems to put that excuse to rest.

Let me know if you have any ground clearance issues in right hand turns.
Maybe I'll put my exhaust on ebay, and buy a new one from SBN.

Regards.

This is exactly the SBN exhaust that I've been running for three months now on my SE, except that I also have the SBN X-Pipe that eliminates the cats and factory cat assembly completely. Using the #90 map. I love it! Great sound, except a little loud from the riders perch. I think the steep angle directs the sound waves in a forward rolling form of some sort. which goes right into my helmet. However, from the roadside or on a side-by-side ride-along, the sound is about right. I'm leaning towards starting to use earplugs!

As a side note, I just had my 2015 SE on display at the AHRMA Bonneville Vintage GP race weekend bike show (as did my friend Mark with his 961 Sport), and they both received lots of favorable comments. In addition, Richard Backus, the editor of Motorcycle Classics magazine, did a photo shoot of the SE and took it for a 100-mile ride. It should be showing up in the December/January issue of the magazine with his comments. Stay tuned for that if you read the magazine.

Cool!!

I always ride with earplugs. It reduces the high frequency (HF) noise, and protects you from HF hearing loss latter in life.
They also mute the exhaust just enough to bring out the grawl in the SBN exhaust.
Can't wait to read Motorcycle Classic's impressions of the 961.
You know they are going to compare it to the 750/850 Commando.

Beautiful!!!!

And you won't have to worry about dragging your pipes when cornering!!!!

:D

Hello BritTwit,
Unfortunately ground clearing can still be improved. May be I can manage it with a different mounting of the pipes. I scratched the right hand silencer lately...
