Hi, I've recently fitted a set of the latest Girling rear shockers on my commando.
I'm looking at the set up instructions and there appears to be 1 pre-load ring, 1 lock ring and below that is a smaller lock ring that screws onto the lower sleeve.
When setting the adjustment should the smallest lock ring at all times be tight against the lower sleeve and the middle ring be the one that locks the pre-load ring at the chosen position.
Thanks again for any advice.

Were the instructions missing from the box? They explain all that. I can scan them if you don't have them.

Doesn't it say in the instructions, to:
"5.
.
.
Check the threaded lockring is tightened to stop the spring seat ring moving once the desired setting has been found."

Ok, does the top pre load ring need to be locked at the desired position by the middle locking ring, or the smallest lock ring at the very bottom.

Yes, that's what the instructions say.

...or the smallest lock ring at the very bottom.

The smallest lockring locks the "lower body".
"6. Shock length can also be extended by a small amount. Slacken the lower body lock ring...etc"
