Picked up my new 2014 Commando SF from Munroe Motors in San Francisco on Saturday. Got the Black Chassis Pack and Polished Engine factory options. Also put on Rizoma front turn signals, rear fender signal eliminator kit, Driven grips, and bar-end mirrors. I also ordered Rizoma levers and South Bay Norton exhaust (pipes and x-pipe). Here is the first batch of photos: https://flic.kr/s/aHsk9wto9g. Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to put many miles on it last weekend. Looking forward to this weekend.

Cheers,

Daniel

Totally awesome. I have the black sport and a black and gold old bonnie too. I think every bike I get is and will always be black and gold. Believe me, I'm' just getting started! 8)

Looks nice. What are the black chassis pack and polished engine options? Not obvious to me, sorry.

We'll have to link up some day. I am in the East Bay and am in contact with three other 961 owners also in the East Bay. I'm on Redwood Road regularly. The other day I was riding the 961 there and had the surprise of seeing another one going the opposite direction. We both did double takes, stopped and turned around.

Having an 850 Commando at home set up in both black/gold roadster trim and Manx silver interstate trim, I can say that the Manx silver is the proper Norton color and is faster too.

Enjoy!

Seeing you're in San Mateo, you should consider heading to Alice's on Sunday for the Clubman Morning After Ride. Check out: http://www.bsaocnc.org/2015_Morning_After.pdf

If you don't feel like starting down in Los Gatos, you can generally rendezvous with the riders at Alice's around 11 or so on Sunday. There will likely be an impressive assortment of classic bikes there, not just BSAs.

Also, there will be at least one new Norton at the Clubman Show in San Jose on Saturday if you're interested.

That is one good looking bike. I hate hearing about you guys riding in the Bay Area. I miss those roads, and the ones in the Sierras. I worked at the Lawrence Livermore Lab in the 80's and still remember riding the roads in the Bay Area.

I live in Florida now, the weather is great, but the roads suck. Only curves are freeway off ramps. I have plans to take the toy hauler to the West Coast next year, so keep those Nortons running. I would love to contact you guys when I get out there and get my SF in a group ride.

Black Chassis Pack includes:
Top and Bottom Yoke
Handle Bar Clamps
Foot Control Plates
Foot Control Levers

As for the polished engine option, I'll be honest, I can't tell the difference between what I supposedly paid for and standard engine. Then again, I haven't seen more than a couple.

Thanks so much for the Clubman Show & Ride info. I'll be at both--need to get some miles on it.

I see you have a carbon fiber chainguard too. By the way, really nice pics.

I'll look forward to seeing it in person soon.

The grips and mirrors are awesome. I really need to change those big stock mirrors. The engine case looks the same. No more polished than any other bike IMHO. Enjoy the bike. Sure wish I had the right weather here. We're getting there.

I rode over to the Delaware Valley Norton Owners club meeting on Sunday on my old Commando and a nice fellow on a new SF showed up. He had all of the upgrades and boy did that bike look great. I hope that they can stay in business because the product appears to be top shelf......Skip

Great pics Daniel. I just picked up a 961 SE on Saturday and the previous owner had done a great job selecting bar-end mirrors, grips, and a few other items. I really want to replace the brake & clutch levers and like the setup you've got. Did you get some universal levers or did you have to pick some that were compatible with a specific bike (other than a Norton as it doesn't appear on many parts/compatibility lists)?

Thanks in advance,
Ken

That's how they are checking sag and max travel on these forks . This way the rider can judge if they need to change settings.

I am well aware of the purpose and many of the factory photos have one. My question should have been did you put it there or did it come from the factory that way, or the dealer?? I have one on my bike for the same purpose!
