Hello Gentlemen,
I am the first to admit that over the years I have not been able to contribute as much as I have taken from this fine forum and appreciate all of your knowledge and support in slowly repairing and rebuilding my '71 Roadster.

I have dreamt of writing an original novel based on my experiences with classic vehicles and tried over and over to get a start on penning a worthwhile story. After a rough time with an intense family illness last September I realized that if not now then never. The result is a novel titled "All Of My Heroes Are Ghosts" which is available on Amazon.com, and Amazon UK etc.. The story is about a young man who is adrift and is questioning his chosen path who finds solace and grounding through the searching for and rehabilitation of a Norton Commando. I tried to capture our collective joy at our projects first running and the thrill of our first rides. Stumbling to figure his life out as he stumbles around with the mechanical challenges of his Norton much of the book attempts to honor those who we all had in our lives who helped us along and taught us to turn wrenches. If you decide to check it out I thank you and I hope it dredges up your own memories of when you first laid eyes on the bikes we all love and fawn over, this is a great hobby and a great brotherhood of those who don't mind a little grease under the fingernails.
Have a safe and rip roaring fall,

-Rob W.

On my first attempt to ride a motorcycle, I crashed into a paling fence and got a face full of splinters. It was in an unmade suburban back lane in Melbourne. Then I took the sidecar wheel apart and fitted the rest of the ball bearings.

Hey Guys,
I just wanted to take a minute to thank every one who has taken an interest in the book. Its flattering and I appreciate the support more than you can imagine. I hope that it does not disappoint!! The book is now available through Amazon for Kindle (I believe that there is a free download for other readers). It's a bit cheaper this way. Just put "All Of My Heroes Are Ghosts" in Amazon and search the whole site vs. specifying "books". Again thanks for all of the support, this is a great community of Norton loyalists who have on many occasions saved my bacon! :D

Hey guys,
warm holiday greetings. I just wanted to remind everyone that if your looking for a gift for your vintage motorcycle obsessed friends the book is a cheap easy stocking stuffer!! The last few months have been a slog self promoting my novel but I have received some really tremendous encouragement and positive reviews. Rick Parkington from Classic Bike sent me a nice note of approval and I was relieved to hear that he found my descriptions of our machines accurate. That was frankly a concern. Recently I heard from Peter Egan which really meant a lot to me since we all know that he is a long suffering member of our Norton fraternity. I have read and reread his Leanings books more times than you can imagine. Another great gift idea by the way. Thanks again for all of the support I appreciate how much the old biking community has been behind me since the book launched and again happy holidays to all,
stay safe,
-RW
