I went to fit a new head steady with my buddy. While taking off the tank and seeing the wiring mess my buddy decided to rewire all the connections and make sure they were all tight. Problem is after i was done the head steady and went to start the bike it is not getting spark And will not start. I have a trispark and and single coil conversion that i installed about a year ago. Everything with the bike worked great before he went and redid the connections. I have been trouble shooting it for about a week and took apart all the connections and re did them again. And still nothing. Is anyone located in PA? About an hour north of philidelphia? Really need someone to look over this.... thanks

He may have swtiched up some wires but as far as i can tell they are good it just has been a while since i fitted the new harness and cant rememeber that well

Yeah, i did the wirng harness orginally and checked everything thats whats so weird. Only thing i can think of is the ground to the engine that was orginal to the pld head steady on the right its still there but im not sure if it conducts well as a ground.

I can help you with this. I'm in Upper Black Eddy - pretty close to you.

When you say " redid the conections" please explain exactly what was done. Pull apart, clean and reassemble with dialectric grease? While normally good procedure, in this case it would be a fail. ALL THE FEMALE BULLET CONNECTORS MUST BE REPLACED. They all crack, hidden inside the rubber sleeve, they are hard to see. Please report back...

Hey Russ, I live in Perkasie and worK in kitnersville. I have probably seen you riding on river road But was in my work truck so i couldn't keep up. If you don't mind send me a text or a call at 2675466774 and we could figure out a time to meet. As far as redoing connections i took some if the female connectors off that were rotted and replaced them. Along with some male ones. after redoing his connections i know i could have done alot better but with the supplies i had i was limited. I know that's not the right answer but it was all i could do

British Wiring is a source for correct wiring connectors for your bike.
Five pages of parts

Thanks to Russ, Batrider, coming over he was able to help me and find the issue and fix it. Shes up and running now and with the new clutch and headsteady rides perfect.

need help with wiring issue

What did the problem turn out to be?

We've probably all done it, no matter what it was!

Thanks!

Lannis

There was a connector for the white hot wires under the tank that should have joined together all the white wires. Instead it passed through 3 separate pairs, so all the white wires were not joined. One of them goes to the ignition and so was not being energized.

I kind of cheated and studied the schematics first.
