I really enjoyed watching it as a kid, later in the 90's into early 00's.

Mourned when my only sports hero was killed, the Man in Black.

Drifted away.

The whole "stages" crap...
"Playoffs"...
"Overtime"
No thanks, all set. 😤

But....

CHICAGO!
Road course!
Children in the rain!

SVG Is STILL being talked about. Gave DRIVING LESSONS to the kids!

I watched NASCAR's Chicago road race for the first time in years! All the same shape cars different emblems just took the fun out of it for me. Racing has to have forward thinking individuals, not cookie cut cars. I remember the days manufactures built street cars that fit their needs for racing. Petty and Chrysler made history in cars you could drive!
Those professional racers were handed their hat's.. The car's reaction to the drivers in the rain was pure entertainment for me, but had to be humbling for the drivers. I would have loved to be in the pits after the race. I bet there was a lot of "I am not driving that fu***** race again!"

I can understand your sentiment but some of the best racing has not just same shape emblems, but identical cars. Ayrton senna in a MB 190E 2.3-16 is an example. To me it makes it all about the drivers, which REALLY makes it interesting.

At 27s he's just ripping it up. In the rain.

To much road paint (pedestrian crossings etc) on that course for my liking....especially in the wet conditions...still we'll take that win🤣....

The highest-numbered slick tyre is marked red for the weekend and known as the soft, the middle choice is marked yellow and known as the medium, while the lowest-numbered is marked white and known as the hard, sitting alongside the green intermediate and blue full wet.

Shane van Gisbergen🇳🇿 is the first driver to win a NASCAR race on debut in 60 years.

The last driver to do that was the legendary Johnny Rutherford, 🇺🇲who had a stellar IndyCar career as well as a decent innings in NASCAR....

Rutherford won the Indy 500 three times....

U.S motorsport fans and reporters will not forget Shane in a hurry....😉
