I have just brought a new clutch basket and it is thinner then my old one . the old one had 5 friction and 5 steel plates the new one takes 4 off each and now looks like what is
in the parts book and the manual . I can only get 3 or 4 threads on the adjuster will i have to shorten the push rod ?

5 steel plates and 5 double-sided friction plates is correct for the 1962 performance clutch fitted to the N15.
It seems you have bought a clutch basket for another (earlier?) model. Don't try using it - you will likely experience serious clutch slip.

Knut thanks for your reply the clutch basket is the one in andover nortons p11/n15 page part no 04-0359 . I dont know what the one that came on the bike
is but it looks like the new one except old one is 1 1/4 inch inside new one is one inch . what you are saying makes sense , i have brought 5 new friction plates
and a spare steel plate their is a bit of wear on the inside off the old basket but not too bad and comparing the spockets it dosn't look that different i might give
it a quik sandblast and reuse it . But why are andover's selling the 4 plate basket for P11's if they will slip ? thanks John
