Will post more details & photos etc shortly ,cheers guys,Richard

Wow, this has the makings of a great road trip. Looking forward to your trip reports.

Hello , I look forward to meeting up with you in the Chicago area. If it is during the work week I will need to have some notice to take off from work . Will you be going to the Norton dealership in Chicago ? That would be MCC Motor Cycle Center , Villa Park , IL. I live in Wisconsin about 2 hours drive away from MCC.

Hi Tony , I do intend to go to Chicargo Norton at least for a bike health check & prob another service , Richard 7 & dad have been giving me advice , & will bring a few spares with me , I'm picking my son up on June 23rd from Chicargo to do as much as historic Route 66 as possible ,dropping him of in L.A. On 11th July.cheers Richard

My dad is looking forward to seeing you next week in England and then you will be visiting us and Peter for a service in Canada. We can take a ride down the Parkway >> Niagara on the Lake to Niagara Falls to Fort Erie. It's really nice. Please give me a few days notice if it's mid week so, just like Tony, can schedule the time off.

Be sure to upgrade your grips before heading out on that long trip.

Please post a link to how we can follow your adventure. My dad used FLICKR and then sent me pics and I uploaded to Twitter.

Another Norton ADVENTURE!

See you soon.
Richard

That sounds like an excellent adventure.
Keep a journal, and update us all on your experiences.
Cheers.

Wow - very exciting!!

Do you have an estimate of when you'll be in Chicago, Richard? If it's just before Memorial Day I might like to try and get out there to see/ride my bike before it's transported home.

Be in Chicago prob 21st June for around 4 days , give or take a day, my son arrives on 23rd & will ride pillion with me to the west coast.

Richard:

When will you be in Seattle? We live in Anacortes, 20 miles west of the I-5 Junction 231. I'd appreciate if we could get together for a short while. I don't get to see many (any?) Commandos around here. I haven't seen a 961 yet.

There's a weekend event in October here called the "Oyster Run" . Motorcyclists take over the town for three or four days. It wasn't too crowded last year, as the weather didn't cooperate, but a couple of years ago our local newspaper reckoned there were 40,000 bikers in town. Even with that number, I didn't see any Nortons at all.

Frank hi , leaving L.A on 11th July, then steady ride up coast to Seattle , so looking at approx 15th , flight back from there on 25th July, my bike will go back in crate by road to L.A then a slow 6 week boat ride back to U.K,so yes I never seen another 961 either, apart from seeing them at the factory, will catch up frank or a bike natter

The Norton rally starts the week of July 11 in Quincy California. You would be the hit of the party if you stopped in there on your way by. And don't forget that California has some of the nicest motorcycle roads in the US, especially east-west so make sure to take in some of those. No need to ride the Interstates.
