over the years I have found that a top box has been really practical when traveling and even just running around the city, i have been using a Givi 46 litre box. I fabricated a space frame to approximate the arrangement and then had it lasercut

I ran the stress numbers and we're good to about 300lbs. the framing stiffens the rather wimpy seat tube as well.

That certainly looks useful. Riding here in Japan I split lanes and keeping the bike narrow is a plus. I' was thinking your braces were going down to the Z bracket for transferring the load off of the seat loop tube.

some have done it that way, but is really only necessary if you have 500lbs cantilevered back there. the main seat tube is good for a solo rider. by adding the tube at a angle it stiffens the highest load point (at the shock upper mount) significantly. if you look at the minuscule framing used on some modern bikes for their mounting racks, this is not undersized.
