We have/had a popular hang out next to a coffee shop on a small side street where bikes would park up and riders would sit and chat while sipping their brews. About a year ago the parking signs changed out to specifically say "No Motorcycle Parking" all alone a section nearest the coffee shop. These are car sized painted boxes which can hold four to six bikes angle parked.

Apparently a local resident filed a complaint, something about noise or unsightlyness.

Is this a common thing? Never heard of specifically excluding a road legal vehicle type from parking spots. Maybe I need to look into complaining about larger SUV's in small car spots?

Last week I was chatting with a local biker about this issue and he said he was there one day when an old lady came milling about the row of bikes. She was grumbling about the muffler sizes and then freaked out at one bike, shouting it was the loudest and didn't even have any muffler. Turns out it was an electric bike.....

Never had a problems while traveling. Had this in Pennsylvania once. Bar tender(owner) would ask you to park your motorcycle out back! Never went back, soon after the place closed up!

That silly shit is happening... a good reason to pay your AMA dues (in the States) and NOTIFY them when you observe some shit. A classic case of class division. Just ask the people who enjoy riding PWC's in the summer. The bannings on lakes & ponds is huge.
