Motorcycle Classics Amal Rebuild How To

Lots of pictures!

You need to have at the little idle jet and its passages. Possible to use carb cleaner spray can
with the little straw nozzle to ensure you are getting full flow out the two tiny holes in
the throat. That the curse of the worn slides and body hasnt struck is the worst part.

I had a hand (literally) in that article, photographed it, and wrote some of the text. It was fleshed out by the editor, Richard Backus. We got some feedback from Jim Bushman regarding our glossing over the idle jet cleaning. It's not perfect by any means.

Just finished going through my carbs only reason I spoke up.
The cost of parts v cost of new carbs is a tough call. Same
with sleeving. By the time you are done you've dropped quite
a bit. But if you bodies arent too worn, then I suppose it is
still worth doing.

I got new anodized slides for mine and it's acceptable, but I'm thinking for the price it would have been better to re-sleeve for a few more $. 14K miles on them at the new slides and I'm sure the Pazon surefire helped.

Another experience.

New slides are 22 GBP plus PP. Resleeve is close to 100 per when you are done.
New premies are 109 GBP plus PP. So if you need needle and jet and maybe the
float and valves plus gaskets etc, new ones are a great deal really.
