More Vehicle Automation.....

Nope, the more you rely on technology the less aware your going to get.
So absolutely true.

If anyone is in any doubt, ask someone who drives a car with parking sensors to try parking one without!

A friend in Denmark has a new VW electric car that controls its speed and distance to other cars automatically. She told me it’s really difficult when she drives ‘normal’ cars as she’s no calibration of speed anymore.

TBH I can't even get on with cruise control.... I've done miles and miles of motorway roadworks with a temporary limit of maybe 30 or 40mph, but in spite of the terminal boredom it totally goes against the grain to be sat in the drivers seat and letting something else take control, however minor...

That said, I don't like automatic gearboxes either.

I have become a fan of cruise control (only recently got a car modern enough to have it) exactly because of the miles of roadworks and low speed limits. I find its not much use for 'actual' motorway driving as going at a constant speed seems to be difficult with the traffic density and traffic speed varying.

No parking sensors on my car, but the reversing camera is a brilliant gadget ( so long as the lens is not covered in dirt ).

I don't like my car turning its own lights on !
And the wipers start by themselves

Our vans have 'auto wipe' function, along with different speeds AND different intermittent intervals..
Trouble is I end up too engrossed in what, how and when they might do next!
Adjustment overkill, methinks..

I know at least 8 people who own cars that are able (mfg. claims) to parallel park themselves.
Not ONE of those owners has ever used/the feature.

Recently bought a 2022 automobile for my wife. Every time I get in the thing I end up spending too much time reviewing the various features and then turning half of them off.
