Which passes did you ride? I was out there last year. Monarch and Red Mountain are my faves.

The big passes were Wolf Creek -two ways, Poncha pass, La Veta pass and then several smaller passes that I don't recall the names.

Here is the waterfall along the side of Wolf creek Pass.

Wow! Must have blown right by that. Wolf Creek Pass is on US 160, correct?

Yep, hwy 160 between South fork and Pagosa Springs. The falls are near the west end of the pass. There is a parking place and a trail up to the falls but there are a few curves that tend to hold your attention. They are quite spectacular during spring runoff. Jim

I was out to your country couple weeks ago, Jim. Rode my R65 from Wisconsin to Montrose, CO via Kansas. After a week at relatives I went up to Fort Collins to check the beer scene. Sure is pretty country. I went over Monarch there and back tho Independence had been recommended, I decided not to try it 'cuz the beemer was having some 'issues'. Wish I had had time to see where all your magic is done... Next time.

Finished it off with a 50 mile - 85mph blast up the interstate back to Pueblo.

What size sprocket do you run?

I noticed that with my current 21 tooth sprocket that I am doing ~ 70mph @ 4000 rpms and ~ 80mph @ 5000 rpms (with a 19 inch back wheel) which seems well under the red line, but it is a bit buzzy.

I run a belt drive front and rear. It is geared very tall.

4133 rpm at 80 mph.

6200 rpm at 120. Jim

I like to cruise at about 75 to 80 MPH on my 750 Atlas. 80 MPH is 4000 RPM This is the same 4 to 1 gearing I used to race with a Willow springs. If you spend time on the highway and ride with 80 MPH traffic - it makes perfect sense. The equivalent is a 23 tooth sprocket on a Commando.
