Hitchcocks are well known RE folk in the U.K.

They do a package of bolt on bits, exhaust, big bore, cam, Powercommander, that boosts power from the stock 40 to 65 rwhp. That’s a over 60% increase and a very respectable number. One of these would shift…

 
I wonder what would total cost be including purchase price of the Interceptor?
I'm thinking it might be a pretty expensive 65 hp modern bike?

$7000 out the door for bike! I have a 650 that I will sacrifice if someone sends me the bits to make it an 850!!!! LOL

Hmmmm this is just for the barrel/piston kit

Then when you are done you have a fairly expensive pepped up Econo bike.
Sort of similar to the multitude of pepped up 865 aircooled Bonnies I guess, although the 865 didn't take much modding $ to produce 65rwhp, since you already had 865ccs to work with and 68 bhp stock.

No one is going to replicate that costly piece of junk!
Even if you have the sickness, it's no longer possible to purchase the hot heads and cams needed.
Stainless frame, titanium fasteners etc, it wasn't built to a budget.

I'm just pulling your chain mate. That is a rolling piece of art few of us could even think of building. All of us know our bikes are just handy disposal units for our spare cash.
 
The person who buys a new Interceptor and spends a few thousand pounds on it modding it for 65 HP is getting more for their money than I did!

But maybe not as much as someone who purchases a new Street Twin 900 ( Cycle world Dyno 60rwhp+-)
Triumph has renamed the Street Twin. For 2023 it will be called the Speed Twin 900.
They have conjured up so many models based on that WC 900/1200 design that it's hard to keep it all straight.
They are certainly getting some payback from the investment of 5 years wages for 50 UK engineers who did the design work on the WC Bonnies.

I have no doubt the bloke that buys the intercepter and tunes it up has a great deal of fun

What is funny is that anyone needs more power from the bikes on offer today. What with traffic and restrictive speed limits what does one do with a bike that has twice the horsepower of my car? Rather like owning a P-51 but only flying it with the gear down.

That's why it's best to get out there now
Speed limits are coming down all over the place plus the roads are getting more and more congested
But there's hardly any police about these days
So all you need worry about are the speed camera's
 
For the roads here you need uphill passing power. Sometimes you need uphill passing power into a headwind.
The 750 Commando comes up a bit short sometimes. The 850 with 20 tooth is just enough. The Vincent Rapide has a little more grunt when needed and it is nice, especially two up. The two modern Triumphs are excellent for this. Sometimes I have used all available power to get out of a jam. Mostly it's just fun to ride something with effortless passing power. The roads are fast but they get plugged up here and there with slow moving freight or RVs. Every so often there will be a passing lane, usually uphill. You need to get out there and crank it on.
The BSA is too slow, I wouldn't use it out on those roads.
It's rated at 46 bhp the same as this new Goldstar 650 but I think it is lighter than the Goldstar. I expect this Goldstar would be underpowered on our roads.
