Hi, this is my first post to the forum ,I live in the South West of the State of Victoria, Australia , Nortons are my thing, going back almost 40 years. My rider is a 1970 roadster and the project bikes are a model 7 domi in a garden gate frame and a Es2 also garden gate I have been fiddling with a model 7 domi motor and have replaced the original cam with a later model cam that clocks up as an ss I needed to provide clearance for this cam on one side of the crankcase . At this stage I have just got the crankcase bolted up and have been wondering if I am opening up pandora's box by fitting this later cam. I am under the impression that the later model cams had quietning ramps and were fitted with flat cam followers in contrast with the early cam which was matched to radiused cam followers . Been wondering if anyone has been down this road before ? and finally decided to try to tap into the pool of knowledge ? Some say the Domi motor is under stressed and asking for a bit of a tune up and considering it ended up at over 800 cc with little design alts I have been thinking a slight rise in compression a higher and wider cam a clean out of the ports and perhaps a bigger carbi might not go astray .Any comment on this plan of attack would be very much appreciated .

Bloody coincidence! I was just reading up on this yesterday in Perth and didn't bring the book back to Melbourne with me. Its Tuning For Speed by Phil Irving. Its got a section on the very cams for the Domi you are referring to and the various ramps and degree settings.

Cheers,
Mick
