MK3 Spark plug insert.
Have recently purchased a 1978 MK3.
Removing the spark plug from the head the Time Sert plug insert also came out.
Can anyone recommend a product that can prevent this happening again.
I.E high temp. Loctite or any other product. Thanks

All I can recommend is a better machine shop, and copper slip…

A correctly fitted insert or helicoil just shouldn’t come out like that.

Especially if a dab of copper slip is used on the plug threads.

The insert is supposed to de-form using the correct tool locking it into the head.
This hasn’t prevented it from coming out though. There’s evidence of glue! High temperature JB weld? I will never know.
Can someone recommend a product?

FYI

Mak, if you bought it from a dealer, are you still within the timeframe whereby they should fix this issue ?

I new what I was letting myself in for!
Sadly old age and a stroke ended his motorcycle career.

l didn’t know there was such a thing.

Probably means 1978 registered because, as we know, the last Mk3s were assembled during 1977.

Loc tite makes several products, I think Green is hi temp. Make sure both head and insert are clean. When reinstalling plug , use anti-seize in threads good luck
