I am fitting a roadster tank and sidecovers to my interstate.
I understand that the original steel sidecovers are no longer available but can anyone recommend a good alternative steel or fiberglass roadster covers for a mk111?
I assume the mk11/11a covers fit with some mods? I dont have the mk111 airbox and use the old britts bracket for the battery cover.

I've fitted a couple of Mk 111 Commandos with aftermarket side panels. The battery side ones have needed relieving particularly round the bottom of the diagonal where the battery tray always seems to foul it.
They will also need a tang welded/rivetting on at the bottom to fit behind the Z plate. All straight forward tinkering.

My 74/75 Commando came with early side panels, and I was able to attach them using an additional side panel mounting bracket:

The bracket in SS is available from RGM: http://www.rgmnorton.co.uk//buy/sid...htm?bskt=4438a197-e5b7-4c05-a124-120daa49b85e.

As I have a Mk3 battery tray, the battery fouls the side panel, and I had to cut off the tool compartment from this:

Just a heads up if you're going to use the addtitional bracket - there's no a lot of room between the battery and the bracket:

For me it's not a problem, as the Motobatt MB9U is a little narrower than the standard battery.

I did a similar bracket when I converted the SS clone to steel sidepanels, only I put both barbs on one long flat piece. When I mount the cover, I reach behind the frame tube and pull the bracket back to get the cover between the battery tray and the bottom barb. It also serves as a mount for the hydraulic rear brake light switch.
