Missing the politics in the "pub"

Donald is a personality, not a politician. Im still yet to hear anyone convincingly defend the way the man conducts himself, personally or politically. Just a lot of vague wishy washy dismissals of valid critique.

I don't mind being political with intelligent people, most of my close family are Trump supporters and I love them just the same. Just be respectful and open to learning.

Let’s not forget many decisions based on feelings and emotions are made when dealing with our bikes ... once the political topic is open it draws all type of comment .... I don’t think it a topic that has ever been discussed anywhere without feelings and passion that what the POTUS has been banking on .... surely not logic or sober second thought .... no doubt this will incite a long dissertation on how my thought process is skewed and without facts .... I believe the facts speak for themselves .... plus the cartoon above is a good example of the world view of the current Pres. ,that is, if you don’t follow FOX and swear by every word ... going to watch the Derby soon , it not fake ....

In Australia, we have a politician called Clive Palmer who is a mining magnate. His business - a nickel refinery in North Queensland, went bankrupt and the Australian government gave him a loan to pay his workers' entitlements. Now he is spending up big on an election campaign. It is not so much his politics I object to, although they are pretty rank. It is simply his attitude. In some ways individualism is good, but when nepotism and favouritism are involved, it stinks.

So everything which happens in politics is a reaction ? Do we ever set a goal and risk-manage our way towards it ? - What is leadership, if not that ?

Surely the current state of many governments across the world indicates that very little risk management occurs and reaction politics is the norm, hence why leadership is criticised so heavily

interesting , here in Canada there is some sympathy for Mrs. May as she tries to do what was promised in election by her former party leader , with what appears to be vanishing support ...

She was doomed to failure from the moment the result was known - of the 650 MPs in the HOC, 486 voted remain. Gina Miller (business woman, remain supporter) then won a court case to demand that parliament would have to agree any withdrawal deal and from that moment there was no way ANY deal to leave the EU from any leader would pass parliament
The remain MPs all start with “I respect the result of the referendum but.....” equates to - I don’t agree with you and will stop you if I can.

Not only, many people of different countries see it also like that.
So many friends, collegues give me a hard time to which I take a neutral stand.
Those in parliment have really had a bopping time to the amusement of the world. About the people of Britain I refuse to comment, we are from the same blood, love Nortons or bikes and have the pride to let our laurels rest on what is still a great nation.

So . . . . . , I'm curious, did the TV networks/cable outlets/state media that you watch cover the historic record breaking US' economic numbers released this week?

Good news, from whichever source, does not fit the current media reporting rationale. It will probably get a 30 second sound bite on the business section of our news outlets.
We had similar here in the U.K., record employment, good economic numbers etc but the news focused on the negatives of companies relocating overseas and people using food banks

The Australian Prime Minister is basing his election promises on our 'booming economy'. However the Reserve Bank of Australia looks like cutting interest rates by a further quarter of a per cent, prior to the election. Who is telling lies ? - It might be the political party which is claiming to have a projected balanced budget. Or it might be public servants seeking to undermine the government. Either way, it is not looking good for the average punter.

Haha!
Unfortunately not this time. I have no love for the Trumpster - I think he is very dangerous - but the media outlets are going with “Trump is destroying the WTO (China tariffs)” which IS the fake news.
Trump does not listen to his political advisors (lifelong politicians!), tweets before he thinks, goes off script with his speeches and p****s off both republicans and democrats alike ....
BUT the American public like him.

Trump's average approval rating is 40%
That’s true Pete but here in the UK the government is usually elected on less than 40% of the vote, the 60% being split across a number of other parties who accrue less than 40% individually. Is it the same in the US?
If the democrats perform as badly as last time, will DJT get in again?

If I remember correctly, Clinton won the majority of votes but electoral college rules meant Trump gained more representation
