Back in 2006 (or thereabouts) I traded away an ugly 1980 AMF Harley Sportster for a Honda CB750K with a spare engine, an unidentified British frame & forks, and an AMF Harley 350SX "Knucklehead" Sprint.
In 2008, I traded the Knucklehead Aermacchi engine to "Doc Z" for a set of his starter rollers (Doc races Knuckleheads in AHRMA); I think I sold the rolling chassis for $100.
The Honda got some parts added to it from my stash to make it more complete, and got sold in 2008 along with the spare engine to another fellow AHRMA racer, "Big Bob" Burns, who races them.
That left only the frame, which turned out to be a Matchless G15CS which had been chopped. Since I had a set of extended forks from a BSA chopper rescue, most of a pre-unit Triumph engine on the shelf, and several different gas tanks and seats, I slapped together this roller to consider the possibilities of building a "MatchUmph" or "TriumphLess"...
Horrid, I know; but I wasn't the one who chopped it.
A couple of years ago, I built a Norton Production Racer replica, and I needed the rear wheel assembly, so that went away. Then, I needed a good TLS front wheel for a customer refurb that had a Yamaha front end on it, so the front wheel went away. The rest sat out back under a shed roof since about 2010.
Anyway, about 2 years ago, I started discussion with a guy to trade all my Triumph pre-unit parts for a mostly there rolling basket case '63 Triumph Bonneville, which would complete my collection of all the "dry frame" unit Bonnevilles. That meant pulling the engine back out, rounding up a few more spare bits off the shelf and so that left only the frame and forks (not the ones in the photo, it was a set of forks & bottom yoke that looked like a late 60s Norton).
This brings me to last week and the need for a set of forks for another rolling Commando project built from the remains of the last three projects I've built.
THAT leaves only the frame with oil tank, tool box (no cover), swingarm,shocks, and a very few bits & bobs still attached (rear wheel is gone now)
Anyone interested in a G15 de-raking project?
