Not my taste but looks pretty complete. Does it run?
A different seat may be needed.
 
Looks pretty good to me a new paint job and seat and a way you go, good find it looks like its all there just need to fix it to your liking, good luck with it.

I know what you mean about taking on extra projects Brian, but that is definitely a great find and would be difficult to pass up for sure. Looks good as is to me. Someone put some TLC into it at some point . Shoot I'd ride it the way it is.
 
I like it in a perverse kind of way, but I like 60s era choppers too.
 
Cool acquisition. Ride as is, restore, or mod to your taste. It's all good.

To my mind it has an excellent period feel. If it were mine I would just recommission and ride as is. There's nothing so boring as a totally restored bike.
Also excuse my ignorance but what is an R type? I assume that term doesn't refer to Roadster?
