Local coffee meets

Sorry, Pete. Was only thinking of myself. I’ve been retired for 20 years.

What is/was your job?

I'm just being dramatic Jim.

I work in construction, so while I technically still have my job there is no actual work to be done. Mandatory quarantine for another week.

What trade? I was an ironworker. Thirty years.

Craig, you did the right thing. Unfortunately despite all the warnings as recently as last weekend folks over here were still seen in groups outside bars etc. They seemed to think they may be immune. So now much more stringent rules are in place. Switzerland have closed the borders, and stopped issuing any visas. All non essential shops are closed. In the U.K. my Brother my Sister and Daughter have all lost their jobs, but isolation has to be done otherwise the spread will be uncontrollable. The company's which have benefited from cheap imported products and paid no local taxes such as Apple, Ebay, Google, Amazon etc. need to start paying their dues. To give credit one of the Alibaba founders has already done a lot to try to help the situation.

I spent my last 20 years as a supervisor in pipe & iron.... Glad to be done with it and all the new PC BS. Have had many great folks I can scarcely recall, but I remember every single smartassed bad apple who couldn't pour urine out of a boot with a hole in it and hit the ground..... I lost my patience so I retired because they became more abundant.

I say the billionaires in the world ought to be thinking of how to save the goose that lays the golden eggs instead of pumping it for one more golden egg.

Bill Gates' foundation will reportedly fund home testing kits for those who think they might be infected with the coronavirus in Seattle, Washington. The kit will allow the user to swab their nose and send the sample back to health officials for analysis. The results would have approximately a two-day turnaround. The Seattle Flu Study, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is working to adapt its resources for the project.

Pipe and iron? Never heard of a trade called pipe and iron. Heard of pipe fitter and ironworker.

That’s nice, but it’s going to take a whole hell-of-a-lot more than that. That’s akin to me
donating 25 cents.

When I see these billionaires get down to their last billion, then I’ll say they tried to make a difference. $100 billion-$1 billion, no difference in one’s lifestyle.

My appointments at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota have been canceled. I miss going to a restaurant. I miss not having the NBA games to watch. Major League Baseball was to open in lees than 2 weeks. No Formula 1. Life is drastically altered from what it was even a month ago.

Ditto for me on the lifestyle changes. I used to eat out every day, now I have to prepare my own meals again but can't because there's no food in the grocery stores. I'm a UCONN basketball fan, and it breaks my heart that the tournaments are cancelled. You're only a senior once, and these poor kids don't get to go home as champions.

Grateful to be working still, but starting Monday it'll be from home. Laptop and company phone were issued yesterday.
