What a horrid disappointment.

From a Honda spokesperson:
"Honda’s AWD system uses a compact, lightweight and fuel efficient rear differential. Due to this construction, certain torque limits are set to enable the unit to perform effectively in real world conditions, while not exceeding the overall strength of the unit."

Translated = low rent childs toy with a grapefruit size diff marketed as the genuine article. 🧐

My wife loved her Accord.
Then the timing belt let go and the engine ate itself 2 thousand miles before timing belt was supposed to be changed.
Refurbished engine, $4K.
I proclaimed "NO MORE HONDAS"
My wife loved her 1st CRV. I didn't.
My wife loves her 2nd CRV. I tolerate it because I have to.
She would not consider another automobile.
This 2024 CRV has too many unwanted - unneeded whiz bang bells and whistles. I need to pull the hell over to figure out why it won't quit "dinging", change the radio station and figure out how to turn down the electric seat heaters (seat heat was set on auto for her).
With 3 mirrors, a backup camera, and an audible sensor that goes off when too close to another object she still managed to back into my neighbors Suburban. A very visible $3K dent. I asked how she managed to do that.
Boy was that the wrong question.
She still loves that car.
Got an ass chewing the other night as I got mud on the floor mat while picking up dinner for us. So glad I volunteered to make that trip.
After setting dinner on the counter I went into the other room with a big glass of tequila and watched "The Beekeeper". She hates action movies so I was left alone for 2 whole hours.
You cannot fucking win...don't try.

I know which battles need not be fought (usually)😜🍻
She bought this one on her own.

I've been driving 4WD, AWD cars, trucks 52 years. In extreme conditions frequently. 'Burbans, 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton pu's, (ALL with rear lockers, some with fronts too).
VW Syncro
Front wheel drive cars with Nokians, rear wheel drive cars with snows...

Had some mutts, even a 1988 Ford Tampon AWD, was slow, had a shitty 3-speed trans, BUT, the fuggin thing blasted FOUR rooster tails when prompted.

And you bring up a good point. The cult like loyalty to brands.
They sell a LIFESTYLE, and most gobble it up.😞

Uncommanded braking. FULL ON PANIC BRAKE for no reason. Flaky sensors & controls built by the lowest bidder.
3 times so far.

Good thinking on scratch out.
I had an Explorer Sport Trac. I drove it until the upkeep/replacement costs became more expensive than the car was valued.
I was considering another one but Ford stopped producing them.
Instead went to the Tacoma. In the woods, up the icy hills, out in the mucked up duck lakes, mud locked fields, never once had to go get the tractor. When locked in it just keeps crawling, forward or reverse.
I am still surprised how often I am asked by my son (and others) if he can borrow it or my outdoor pals want me to drive.

Won't go into it but I never Cared for Honda's, I used to be rather vocal about it.
So what did my first wife do with her settlement? Yup, went right out and bought a Honda...
That'll show me.....

"Bee Keeper' is awesome BTW...

How about steer by wire? .... My sister in Law totaled her Honda and narrowly escaped being in a multi-car wreck when the steering suddenly went NIL.

Slick
Yeah Slick, a buddy of mine who was a Harley parts shuffler always told me don't buy one that doesn't have cables. Sounds like the Honda syndrome.

As Dad used to say: "That thing couldn't pull a sick whore off a pisspot".

The AMC Eagle is lookin' pretty good right now, isn't it..

The EAGLE!
Had a friend who owned one...he loved it. It smelled like a pot grow house and stale beer. He drove it on a 100+ mile trip not realizing he was in 2nd gear the entire time but it held together. At least until the cops towed it away...never saw it again after that.
Then there was the AMC Pacer.....

I've had 3 of them. Last one was a wagon, 4 cylinder with 5 speed manual. Best of all of em.
