not much knee pain, been riding this
going to get the Nortons out todayView attachment 18835
Was reading reviews from Motus owners on ADVRider. Everyone who has one absolutely loves their's and new and barely used ones are going for 50% of original retail. A friend considered one and the price at the time put him off. He ended up with a GoldWing. How do you like it, Jim?

I traded a 2016 Multistrada Ducati plus cash . The Duc was too whiz bang electronic, and the ducs engine although very powerful , was trying too hard to do everything , the Motus is loud, lower and easy to ride, in your face, stupid fast, oh the torque! great handling , and could hurt you!

I feel for you guys with the kicking problems..... I only have to fold out the pedal and kick down, and not too smartly at that, because my old 850 has always been an easy kicker.... I'm about 6' 1" 235# so bent right leg and a good push does it for me. My right knee has always been wobbly and swells/stiffens, but does the Commando well enough.... just sometimes have to reach down and pull to bend it enough to get on the footrest.

A close friend had both of his knees replaced in one operation. He was hindered in first month or so but stuck with the PT.
10 months later he now pisses me off the way he can maneuver and squirm and climb on his new sticks. He was given a declaration card for when the TSA folks go nuts waving the magic wand around and they do periodically X-Ray him.
I think they zap him just to play with their fancy assed very expensive X-Ray photo gizmo, but I am also getting old and cantankerous

I have seen ladies at the airport sporting a new/metallic joint of some kind throw such a hissy fit about being X-Rayed that even the female TSA agents steer clear and let them through.
Though I must admit that I would not be interested in seeing the X-Ray view of the majority of them.

Why take the chance on a kickstart mishap, E start is simply progressive management of your new joint.
A lot harder to hurt yourself pushing a button.

Just stay away from the single cylinder joint trashers. My buddy was trying to get me to kick over/start his 441 Victor...I told him now way...I saw one of those send a guy flying while ruining his knee at Road Atlanta years ago.

I know E-start is in my future.
Hope your new knee treats you well.

The E start available from Matt is just such a proficient piece of kit. And when you consider it comes complete with perhaps the best primary belt drive available, it’s actually good value.

For those who haven’t seen it, here’s a clip of Matts e start on my 920cc, 11:1 compression ratio, newly built motor. The was SO difficult to kick start that even as a chap without new knees etc I was genuinely concerned for my safety. The e start spins it over so effortlessly it’s just crazy...

I feel for the guys here with knee and other problems, personally I can still start the Commando with ease at 71 years old, this bike always start first or second kick.
Starting my Goldstar is another story, this is a fairly reluctant starter, and kicking is much harder than with the Norton, so the Goldie would be my first candidate for an E-starter.
I may possibly need E-start for my bikes when I get older, but what is holding me back is the idea that these starter kits cost more than I payed for the whole bike.

So far there is nothing wrong with me and the 850 is actually getting easier to start. But the one thing I cannot do is a restart in traffic. At best I can do it on the side stand, but rather put it on the centre stand and getting it up at roadside is pretty iffy to
near impossible if the tank if full.
Time is coming when I either stand down or go electric...I try not to think about it.

My BIL has lugged around a huge 2 stroke single dirt bike... want to say Yamaha...which he's tried giving me. No way because he forgets I tried kicking it over about 40 years ago and it damned near broke my leg on every kick. Some bikes are meant for Estart even in your youth. I'm just pleased my carcass is holding up well enough to kick my Norton over Because I don't need another thing on it to worry over.
Hope you guys keep riding them for years to come.

started 2 Norts( 3 counting the e start :) ) no problem with my new knee it performed great, the left side old one was more painful, jumping up and down on while kicking the bikes was felt . In two weeks I get that one done
