That is a really lovely motorcycle. I would like to ride that. - 'If it looks right, it usually IS right'. When you build a motorcycle, there are not many degrees of freedom - because functionality dictates form.

Being a Cycle World Special II, Wonder if it was for David Edwards..

Jseng,
What are low vibration internals and how does a radial master cylinder improve the braking system.Excuse my ignorance
Thanks,Mike

I sent you a PM about the low vibration internals. The radial ft brake master cylinder is more efficient - it requires less hand pressure and better braking.

You can call it a "street tracker" but its flat tracker style and flat tracker inspired.

Were Norton flat trackers ever successful back in the day? I mostly remember XR750s, Triumphs, and the occasional two stroke. Any past history flat track info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

A few guys got around the mile dirt oval pretty well on Nortons. Harley didn't like that and put a stop to it with a better twin and some talented riders. Honda didn't like Harley winning either, but that's a shorter story.

Only reason I own a Norton is because I used to go to the San Jose Mile when a Red Norton was there. I'm not sure if it was a Wood bike or not, but it was quick and sounded like no other. I gotta get me one of those I thought to myself.

Ron Wood told me that his pumped up short strokes could make 78 to 84 hp. He used stock rods with a short stroke crank and had to mill head, cylinders, copper head gasket and cases to bring down the head. If his rider had to make too many qualifying heats then when the motor heated up the studs could pull out of the cases. Revving the motor to 8000 could overhead the RD racing valve springs of the time. His bike and Alex Jorgensen ruled Ascot flat track for a few years.
