It’s 47 years old and has clearly changed hands a few times already. I’d imagine a few miles could be clocked up in 47 years just from being pushed around !

Pushing around for 22 miles would be a "no".

The previously mentioned road test before international shipping would make much more sense, although did they really do that for all exported bikes?

I didn’t say 22… I said ‘a few’…

(Can't be 'that' Andrew bidding, surely? This virgin's 47 years old, not 17!)

It will stay unridden at £30K, which is a pity. It needs to be ridden but the more it goes for the more £ it would lose being ridden, Catch 22.

Can this be seen as an: 'investment?' Will it be worth more in 10-15-20 years time?
(Disconnect the speedo and give it some..... :) )

It's an indulgence I'll never be able join in with but, I could understand if this was a 'one off' with some history, a prototype, works hack or competition machine.
I just keep thinking that the buyer may well trailer this £30k (possibly) novelty to a show, where it may end up parked to another 'genuine' but used JPN, or god forbid, a 'replica' at maybe a quarter or third of the price. So what has that extra £20k+ bought??
And if left immobile and mute it won't be supporting the spares industry.....
Each to their own, of course.......

TBH if I go to the Science Museum and see a Woolly Mammoth, do I care it's not 100% 'original?'.
This bike is unique, yes, but only in a grotesque, '40 year old virgin' kind of way. IMHO..
To put it another way: It's a bike nobody wanted to ride.... How sad is that?
Wouldn't see a Woolly Mammoth in the Science museum, that would next door in the History museum! Would be a very strange exhibit in the Science museum!!

Sorry Bernhard....
I'll rephrase that: 'TBH if I go to the Science Museum and see a Woolly Mammoth, do I care it's not 100% 'original..... Or in the wrong building?'.
:) xx
(I say, I say, I say.... Why did the Woolly Mammoth cross the road? Answers on a postcard, please)
