Whatever you use, use it sparingly with a thin coat. You don't want it squeezing out on the inside and getting into any oil passages. The Grey colored sealants look better aesthetically if they happen to squeeze out a little on the outside of the cases. I use the same product on both the cases and as a base gasket. No leaks. Permatex Optimum 27036I always let joints dry for 24 hours before doing anything else with the joined part. Being in a hurry is a recipe for disaster unless you are pitting at a race event and have no choice but to hurry.
