Yes, that's what Jim told me last year about Webcam too. Looked at their website and it's active. I let Jim sell my cam to Jerry Doe when he was rebuilding his '71 ( your welcome, Jerry :) ). Never knew what was about to hit the fan then. So, when he gets around to finishing my breather mod, hopefully he'll be able to send a camshaft along with it soon. So many things to do to my '71, but it would be nice to ride it this year for it's 50th anniversary. Birth date was May 1971.

He had issues getting parts for a while because of covid I believe. My head has been there near 6 months waiting for valve guides. He says I'm getting close...

There is a 312 in the FS section.

Yeah, that was gone quickly. Just as well, Jim owes me a cam as I've already paid for it. Heh Heh, maybe he bought it for me :D

I sent my engine to CNW over 4 years ago to be rebuilt and it’s still not done. I think Jim still hasn’t finished my head. I’ve emailed Matt and he just keeps saying that Jim is starting to send him heads and other engine components I guess. I’m just beyond frustrated and I actually started worrying I might die before it gets finished.

4 years for a engine rebuild, you got to be kidding, that's why I do most of my work myself and use local machine shops for any machining I can't do, no excuse for waiting that long, but then some take to much on and it gets beyond them, no wonder you are frustrated.

Maybe they lost your bits or something and hoping you just go away, but I am sure that's not the problem, I be getting everything back and do the building yourself or find someone who won't take so long, most engine builders work with the people involved and work to a time frame, when I got my oversize bore done dropped off at machine shop 2 days later all done and that was a busy machine shop, all the head work I done on my motor was done where I worked at the time by me and my tradesman Fitter and Turner as I was his T/A for 15 years in maintenance at a TEC College I worked at for over 31 years, we also had a good Motorcycle shop with 2 very good experienced teachers who knew all about old British bikes, but I did all the put back together.
Jim is very good at what he does but so many want him to do the work so I think he might get a bit over come by all the jobs, its always good to get the best person to do the work but that's when things slow down and the waiting game starts, but 4 years is over the top.

With the _very_ good reputation both cNw and Jim have, I cannot help but wonder if there is not more to this tale than has been told.

CNW is the one I'd be talking to. They used to comment on this forum and would be surprised if they don't still follow it. If there is more to the 4 year engine build, they really need to speak up.

Jim has had my head and barrels for over a year and a half now. Won't answer the phone and won't return calls. I guess a trip to Colorado is in order.

This reminds me of a visit to Bob Dunn's workshop.
Bob kept a lot of Vincent's alive and kicking much like Jim has done with Nortons.
Sometimes the work could pile up a bit. Being a very affable guy, he had trouble saying no. At the conclusion of the shop tour Bob announced that he was off to deliver a rebuilt Series A single engine to a friend. The friend had left it there 29 years earlier with instructions of " no rush, whenever you get to it"

The silver lining I see is all the information i've gathered here and talking to Jim C a few times at the races over the years. Between him and Jim S and others here throwing out the most specific detailed down to a gnats ass reasons materials working conditions for every aspect of the bike, well it could be a lot worse. Heck I can't find time to keep a handful of my favorite bikes running
while running a small business.

If (as I suspect) its more complex than simple "too busy", then I really doubt that a public forum is the place to discuss customer relations. Errors usually happen on both sides, but its something usually best discussed in private. I've spent quite a number of years doing customer support, and there were very few disputes (if any!) which would have benefited from a public discussion between us and the customer.
I do note though that the person involved does not say anything bad about Matt or Jim, but (understandably) his patience is wearing a bit thin.

Let's all remember in times of pandemic people also have family, Jim certainly does.

Anything can happen that affects the household or relatives, and we have no rights with regard to knowing what that is, or how it impacts the individual and their approach to the outside world.

I have had some frustration with Jim's current lack of communication. It impacts me much less than others who have parts in work and cannot progress their projects, but enough to understand how others feel.

But I am able to sit back and hope we hear good news soon.

Stay Safe.
