It's snowing in Texas

When I was a kid in Michigan and Illinois in the 60's kids used to get an icicle and lick on it. I probably did too but I dont remember liking it too much. Flash forward to a few weeks ago and I heard a guy on the radio saying never do that. The water runs off the roof to make those and picks up all the dirt and bird crap and as it runs off to form those things...

Hoping for the best to all you folks in Texas. Sounds like a real mess for some people....

Tried to get out this am. All I did was get the F150 sideways.
The tractor cranked easily, but my tow chain is deep in the woods under snow and ice where I was working a felled tree for firewood.

I suppose I will survive another day in Ice-Vid lockdown. I worry about the shop cat in our business who has been alone since last Friday. One of our employees will try to make it to the shop for a cat rescue.

Somebody should tell Mother Nature that winter is supposed to be payback for our super summers.

We don't have winter in our lexicon: we have spring, summer, super summer, summer, and fall. Winter, if any, comes on a Thursday.

Snowbound Slick

This last 12 months has taught me just how good we have it in Australia. I really feel for you guys. Living in America, you probably have more money - but is it worth it ?

This weather needs to go back to the folks who are used to dealing with it.... All we know how to do is handle heat, which BTW didn't happen for over 48 hrs. here.... Many are still without power. Glad for my little generator, gas range, & old wall heater I kept in the bathroom. When my water heater dies in goes a gas model.
Had a 5 ton Servel gas AC unit once that was the best damned AC I've ever owned.... No support for them any longer since the electric propaganda won the war.... only higher costs and lack of reliability.... I only hope the body count is low after this exercise in mismanagement.

Yeah, about that whole "R" thing...

TYPICAL bureaucracy; sad to say, my cousin was on one of those advisory boards (in San Antonio) that recommended (with heavy influence, S.A. being one of the largest clients) "green" cr@p...

Which is why if you grow up in the north, you have a wood stove no matter what. And in more recent times you
have an APU as well.
Like investing you do it long before it looks like a good deal....

An old friend of mine lives way out in Advocate NS it back of beyond , he harvests wood sustainably off his 1500 acre lot , he has propane genset good for 14 days running everything in house ..... cost a lot of $
