It is with deep regret...!! apparently the Germans were playing the long game.... who knew.....!!

I didn't even know that Ducati imported the singles to the US.
I was referring to the 750 and 900 bevel heads.
Loved them since I first saw them in the Berliner Motors brochures.
Yellow/Black Sport, and Silver/Blue Supersport.
I was fortunate to pull a Duc 125 out the someones trash in 1974. Me and a bud got it running. Not well, but it moved. I thought that was beautiful even though it looked like what it was. Trash.

Every time I see an old Ducati single I think of my High School classmate who's first motorcycle was an 'old' Ducati 250 scrambler. He hated it. This was around 1968 or 69.
He traded it off for a 'Real' dirt bike, a shiny new Yamaha DT1. At the time it was an upgrade and more user friendly in the dirt.
I look back and chuckle now. Wonder if he does the same...

Well that's to be expected from a nation that calls nipples "breast warts" ! (According to James May anyway).

I think my initial response to this stupid, obnoxious comment was far too polite.

Criticise my opinions or my motorcycles, - don't insult my country!

The country remember that gave the world Norton - and Vincent and BSA and Matchless etc.,etc.,etc

Not sure I understand you, the comment was referring to a German term for nipples.
Here is James May making the comment, at about the two minute mark:

I completely misunderstood your post, please accept my apologies.

I guess James May is the person making the insulting comments. Sorry.

I took it more as a tongue in cheek comment than much of an insult. In the context of the TR6 review, he was trying to make the point the Germans made a bloke's/masculine car design for the TR6 bodywork, as compared to the Italian shapes of other contemporary designs.

James May seems such a nice chap and is usually quite inoffensive so I think you're probably right, although I'm not sure I would completely understand if I were German, it's such a strange remark to have made.

Incidentally I do have a link to James. I used to have a cbr600 which I bought new in 1998 and traded in 2009 for a cbr1000. I regretted parting with the 600 and for years, thinking it had been bought locally, kept a look out to see if I could find the new owner and perhaps manage to get it back. Then in 2019 I found out what had happened to it when I saw it on ebay. James May had been the second owner of my bike and had owned it for nearly ten years!
