Friend of mine is on holiday in Ilfracombe, by chance she was in this bar, by chance, she posted it on FB, by chance I read it and scrolled down, by chance I noticed the following pic, by chance am now wondering if the circle can be completed by someone claiming ownership! Quite a lot of chances needed to line up to bring you this post. :)

Quite like the fairing btw - Norton not scooter!

That fairing is awesome, we gotta locate the rider and find out where the fairing came from and how it was mounted!

It’s even the right colour! I’m sure that we all agree that the black and gold colour scheme is superior to all others!!

I'm partial to black & gold myself, but saying it openly is bound to stir a few up. Stating 'superior', which everyone already knows, shall really get a couple of counter remarks.
I'd like to mate that up on my old 850.

similar to the Norvil one for the older Commando, possibly with higher screen.

C’mon you UK based 961 riders, one of you must be a budding sleuth!!

Where is this bike and owner?! I’m willing to ‘chip in’ to hire a PI. Think I’ve been watching to much American TV, but I would sell my first born to get hold of one of those fairings! Sure I’m not the only one that has been looking for a Cafe Racer type fairing?

If I had to guess I'd say its a copy of the '80's Ducati 900 SS fairing

The original Norton PR or replicas of had the fairing mounted to a brace that clamped to the steering neck. This then came out through where your headlamp shell is now between the fork tubes . Your headlamp shell will move up into the fairing nose. There were then two more brackets at the front gas tank mounts to stabilize the side wings. A very similar setup can be used on the 961 , I would think.

That Silver is stunning !! note the slick track rubber on those 6inch mag rims.... amazing !!

The Norts not bad either.

My eyes and ears in Ilfracombe (who comes up with these names), has gone deep underground. Mingling with the locals, she's now run up a considerable bar bill! But I've reassured her members of AccessNorton will take care of it, if she can deliver the goods! :) She recommends the Ardbeg Uigeadial btw if you're partial to a peaty number. Anyhow, having plied half the town with good Scotch I received a picture this morning!

Turns out the owner is a local and still has the bike! But it came with the fairing already attached. :( More to follow from my Ilfracombe mole. Bar bill is currently sitting at just north of £300, presume everyone is ok with this. o_O :)

Track him down, at any cost.
She's a beauty, and has those long RC silencers that Nigel so loves.

Sorry guys, I know I’m swimming up stream with y’all on this. But I don’t like that fairing on that bike at all.

Compared to the fairing, the pipes actually look good!

But I notice the subtle JPS logos, they’re on the faring too. Kickstart motorcycles in Wales sell mildly customised “limited runs” of such JPS badged bikes. My money is on this fairing having been fitted by them. Certainly worth an enquiry.

Aha! I knew one of you fine gentlemen would hunt this baby down! Mr iwilson you are a star; subcontracting to a hard drinking female undercover operative? # inspired!

Hold your horses Eddie, it may just be the ‘angle of the dangle’. I agree from this image it looks somewhat oversized and bulbous. It may just be the camera angle. More pictures required please iwilson and the detail of who manufactured/fitted it.

PS, cheque’s in the post for The lady of Ilfracombe.

Looks promising

Steve

Ask him if he wants his business inundated with calls about his motorcycle first!

I am with you Nigel, it reminds me of those Dunstall things they used to put on the kettles.
