I posted previously about an Atlas project I've taken on. It is a rolling chassis with engine and trans installed, and all the major sheet metal painted and ready to go. I was checking the serial number last night and now I'm not sure what this is. Engine and frame numbers match and are where they should be....20/106xxx...according to everything I can find the first Atlas was 20/108000 ? Numbers do not look altered in any way. It also has the speedo mounted in the headlight shell and a separate tach like an earlier big twin. What the heck might this be?

20 indicates an Atlas. My Atlas is a 1962 build with a serial number of 20/ 102 8xx. I would say yours is certainly an Atlas. I question your data that says first Atlas was 108000, perhaps 102000 is more likely.

Early Atlas's had speedo in headlight shell. Tachs were dealer added accessories.

The lug on the headstock, where the head steady brace bolts on, has a date stamp indicating when Reynold made the frame. Mine is stamped 2 62 (Feb 1962).

Slick
