Hi all

I finally put the new coil and leads on yesterday and when I went to test the bike I had no headlights tail or brake lights, I played with switch turned bike on and off still no luck, I decided to test the bike anyway as I live in the country and returned 20 min later everything working again. I had the tank off obviously to change coil and didn't notice anything loose, the blinkers worked the whole time other instruments were working as well.
Has anyone come across this with headlights ?

Thanks

Can’t help with your headlight issue, but m very interested in your thoughts having tested the bike with new coils n leads...

Check the head lamp relay in the fuse box. Do you have the foam backing to stop the relays from backing out ? Also the fuse have been seen to develop hairline cracks and put foam backing in there as well to stop them from coming out. Finally use zip ties to secure the fuse box top cover and plugs coming in from the rear. This will keep the whole unit tight and secure.

As Richard recommended in his manuals the main fuses at the battery connection can loosen either when riding or removing or refitting the fuel tank that they should be tie wrapped to prevent them coming apart. Perhaps this is what happened when you removed / refitted fuel tank when you fitted new Bosch coil, etc. Your 30 mile run could have vibrated the offending one "together". Just a thought!

Yes this should be zip tied too. Mine was from the factory . If this fuse was open then more would not work ? Worth checking and install those zip ties. !

Thanks guys I'll check it out on the weekend, I'm hoping it's something simple like that, also to Fast Eddie I did think there was a noticeable difference the bike seemed slightly smoother and seemed to pick up better when I gave it a fist full, unfortunately over here the max speed limit is 100 kph I did take it up considerably higher than that but over 30 kph over the speed limit and goodbye licence so didn't spend long up there.
I'm keen now to do the sensors too, my main reason for doing the change is because the bike is allergic to water and soon as it rains it chokes, I had done all the dialetric grease and still the same, but was advised on here the coil would fix it so keen to find out but not that keen that I'll be heading out in the next downpour.

My dad had issues with the airbox temp sensor in the rain. On top of the airbox. Make sure to dielectric grease that one. It requires dropping the airbox a little to reach the connections.

Thanks Richard I did that one any more than light drizzle it starts playing up soon as the rain stops starts running on two again I'll see how it goes next time but I'm planning to do the Bosch conversion of sensors so hopefully I'll nail it then
