I’ll do my best to make it. That’s close to me. Only problem is it’s a weekday event and I’m self employed.
Trying to get away from business is hard.

Just bumping this up to the top and see if anybody (961) else is going ?

I’m going to do my very best to make it at least one day. I’m up to my neck with business.

I will be there Thursday afternoon and Friday. I can PM you with more info. Take Care.

Hope you all enjoy the rally. Wish I could be there, but I can't manage it this time. Unless something changes, I probably won't make it to New York in 2020 either. Hoping for a closer (West Coast) location in 2021.

Ken

I won't be going.
Is it me or does it seem that the INOA rallies rotate between the same chapters? NE, left coast, Michigan, and back to the NE.

There have been rallies in Washington DC , Atlanta , Illinois , Wisconsin and South Dakota . I can't name them all , there is a list somewhere. Where the strongest and willing chapters are I suppose.

I went to the INOA rally in Buffalo, Wyoming 4? years ago.
I remember that because I accidentally punched Buffalo, MT into the GPS when leaving Helena MT for the Rally. I then proceeded to lead five riders about 90 miles in the wrong direction!
Turns out nearly every state has a town or city named Buffalo. The GPS gives you the one in the State you are in as first choice.

I haven't lived that mistake down yet, it's only 4 years.

I was thinking as of late. The first was in PA, second was in MO, third CO, 4th CA, 5th Tennessee, 6th was Maine and the 7th was in AZ.
North, South, East and West. Now it is Left Coast, East coast maybe in the middle but never mid-west and there are chapters in TX .
The trouble with places like TX is the heat and for some reason the rallies have to be in the summer because of the kids. My kids are grown and the grandkids would rather look at their phone than interact with other people so I have no idea why the rally in June or July is a necessity?
But to tell the truth after 43 years I'm not going to re-up my membership. The news letter was a dig deal when I first joined back in the 70's. First it was every month then every other month then 5 times a year and now it seems to be twice a year. Why bother, I can get more interaction and information off of Access Norton.

It is a lot of work running a club . People just get tired of it. We need young blood to come in and help carry Norton membership on. Maybe the liquid cooled machines will help do that , especially the cheaper models which younger folks can afford..

I remember going to one at Dick Klamfoth's Honda Hills in Ohio, which was renamed Norton Hills for the rally.
Also went to one in Branson, Mo., the Bible-Belt Vegas. when my 35-yr-old daughter was only months old.

Sounds like a opportunity for the INOA to instigate the Worntorn Award for Navigational Excellence :)
I made it to Buffalo too, great trip.

I agree that the club needs new blood, trouble is that so many young people are to busy looking at their damn phones to go out and enjoy life. As for the cost of the new Norton's I can only hope. But I ask one question, why would you buy a new Norton with so little dealer support. A quick look on Norton's web site shows 4 dealers in all of the US. I don't think so.

Because, unfortunately most Norton owners are closet masochists.

A little masochistic for sure but how many Norton owners don’t have another bike? I “expect” my modern Triumph to start first time, I “hope” my Modern Norton does!

True.
I don't see anyone buying a Commando as their only bike, and remaining sane when it is constantly experience issues.
I think a lot is riding on the new models (1200/650) to change the general perception that Norton motorcycles have problems.
The lack of dealers here in the US certainly doesn't help the matter either.

I recently found an independent shop here in New York that is willing to work on new Commandos. The owner has lots of experience with old BritIron. Of course this does involve a bit of risk. Not like having an authorized dealer performing the work.

Or you could bring it to Niagara Falls

So, you drop a load of money on a product with no local support and when you need parts or service you have to haul your bike halfway across the country?
There isn't even an importer in the US anymore! They need to produce more bikes, develop a nation wide dealer network with parts back up. You can't sell from an empty shelf and if I were to buy a new Norton I would want it now not in 6 to 12 months.
As much as I love seeing a Norton racing at the IOM how much does that cost?
