If you reverse the starter motor's polarity then I think that will make it turn backwards?I know that it's possible to alter the rotation of the standard starter motor if the 4-brush conversion kit is fitted by changing the brush positions in their holders. I'm not sure what would be required for a normal 2-brush starter.
